There was one of those Kymcos in my msf class but I didn’t get a chance to ride it. It looks cool for sure. Here’s a comparison of some 250 cruisers including the Kymco.

shagglesParticipantAnother thing that’s had me thinking about the Blast lately is gas mileage. They claim 68 mpg.
shagglesParticipantDo you have a Harley dealer around there? The Buell Blast looks like it might fit in with what you’re looking for.
shagglesParticipantI test drove an Aprilia Atlantic scooter. I didn’t really like it though I have to admit that it was nice not having to shift down everytime I came to a stop. Smaller cruisers like the Honda Rebel, Yamaha Virago or Suzuki GZ250 don’t weigh anymore than the Sportcity

They just changed the name this year. It’s a good bike. Top speed seems to be around 80 mph but it’s much happier at 60 or below. Gets really good gas mileage. I’ve heard that taller people feel a bit cramped on it. You’d have to try it out to know for sure. Chances are you’ll be riding something similar in the MSF class. Speaking of the MSF class if you’re having trouble getting in to one ask the dealer if he can help you out. The course providers usually hold out a few spots for the local dealers because they provide the bike that are used in the class.
shagglesParticipantIf your name isn’t on the title you don’t own the bike and if he doesn’t have the title there’s a chance it’s stolen. I would stear clear unless he can come up with the title.
shagglesParticipantI’m sure that would be fine for someone tall like you. It wouldn’t be good for me (5’8″ w/29″ inseam.) Are you thinking about doing some offroad riding though? If you’re not I’d look around for a cruiser if that’s what you really want.
shagglesParticipantCongratulations.
shagglesParticipantWhen I first started looking at bikes the guy at the dealership told me if the class I wanted was full to call him and he could probably get me in. I hadn’t even bought anything from him. As far as taking the course with a friend-yeah that’d be cool but you’ll make friends in class too.
shagglesParticipantMy Virago can do 80 on a good day. I ride it on the freeway all the time but if you’re planning daily 60 mile round trips at 70 mph it might not be the best choice. I don’t know much about the Blast either but I hear good things and it’s supposed to get 68 mpg. That’s pretty comparable to the virago.
shagglesParticipantFor boots I really like Sidi but they are a little on the expensive side. Really comfortable though.
shagglesParticipantDoesn’t the owners manual say something about max rpms and when to shift?
shagglesParticipantMost or all motorcycle speedometers are off a little. I found out this weekend mine is off about 2 mph. 10 mph would be a lot but if yours is a little optomistic and your bf’s is a little pessimistic that could add up to 10 mph. Try finding a road that has one of those signs that clocks your speed. Around here they’re usually in construction zones. That’s how I happened to notice that my speedo was off. I always assumed it was anyway but it’s nice to know by how much.
shagglesParticipantI have a Scorpian helmet and Tour Master Jacket and pants. Those two companies seem to be a little less expensive but still high quality. That being said I second Canstaett. You have to try stuff on. Especially the helmet.
shagglesParticipantI’m sure there are at least a few hundred cars for every motorcycle on the road. It still bums me out though. I try to be environmentally concious.
