ParticipantI think it’s just me because I tried a different pc last night and it came up fine.

ParticipantI get a whole page of stuff like this:
Warning: Can’t find file: ‘./shayai_motorcycles/access.frm’ (errno: 13) query: SELECT CASE WHEN status=1 THEN 0 ELSE 1 END FROM access WHERE type = ‘host’ AND LOWER(‘170.135.241.46’) LIKE LOWER(mask) ORDER BY status DESC LIMIT 0, 1 in /home/shayai/public_html/includes/database.mysql.inc on line 172
It happens everytime I try to open that one but maybe it’s just me if megaspaz can open it OK.

ParticipantVery nice and a good price. How do you like the v-twin compared to the single on the S40? Is it shaft drive or belt? I know the new ones are shaft but I’m thinking I read somewhere that they were belt drive prior to that.

ParticipantI think the thing about bicycling that helps me the most is just the fact that I’m used to riding in traffic with cars whizzing by me. Now I can actually keep up. OTOH I now understand counter steering which I never did on the bicycle.

ParticipantI get ‘the wave’ from virtually every biker I ever pass. I didn’t expect that and that’s one of the coolest things to me. I’m more of a bicyclist than a motorcyclist and although many bicyclists will give you a nod as they pass you on the trail many don’t and even fewer will on the street. Some say it’s because they’re concentrating on their workout but when I go running and pass another runner I always get a Hi or Good Morning or whatever. Anyway I’m getting a little OT now. Motorcyclists seem to be a friendly bunch.

ParticipantI got 15% off my helmet at University Honda and 10% off my gloves at Aurora Suzuki just for having completed the msf course. I think most shops around here do that for riders who have recently completed or are scheduled to take the new rider course.

ParticipantI think my Virago is supposed to get around 70 mpg but I haven’t actually tested it to see what I’m really getting.

ParticipantCongratulations. Too bad about that brake thing.

ParticipantWell that just goes back to my original point. It’s funny how different it can be from one place to another.

ParticipantThe only problem I’m having today is with the Buell Blast review.

ParticipantThere’s a written test in the class. The only thing I had to go to the DMV for was to show them my certificate that said I passed and get my new license.

ParticipantIsn’t it funny how different locations have such different requirements? I live in WA state and all I had to do was take a 2 day class and I got my license.

ParticipantGood luck.

ParticipantI love retro looking bikes like the Royal Enfield. Another company that makes a WWII-style military bike is Ural. I would love to have one of their sidecar models.

ParticipantThere are loads of smaller cruisers than the S50. If you’re taking the MSF course chances are you are/will be riding a 250cc cruiser. I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a bike you can grow in to. You can pick up a used Rebel or Virago 250 for $2K or less and you will probably get most or all of that back when you sell it to move up to a bigger bike.
As far as who to buy from I would check to see if the msf course provider has any training bike for sale. That’s where I got mine. The mileage was really low, it had been well maintained (they gave me all the service records) and although it had been dropped a few times it had never been ridden on the street and probably never over 25 mph. It’s like buying a bike from the proverbial little old lady from Pasedena.
