shagglesParticipantIn the MSF class they were very clear that alcohal and motorcycles do not mix. Unlike a car you have to balance a motorcycle and that becomes a lot more difficult after even one drink. (I haven’t tried it-that’s what they told us in class.) I don’t think it has anything to do with “biker bars”. More people leave bars in cars than on bikes.
shagglesParticipantHilarious! Not exactly a review of the Vespa 125 though.
shagglesParticipantOl’ Dirtbeard of the Satan’s Barbers MC. Not sure about Ol’ Ditrbeard but Satan’s Barbers is pretty cool.
shagglesParticipantYour comments don’t sound “cruel”. I’m well aware of my responsibilities as a rider but that doesn’t make it my fault that someone almost hit me.
shagglesParticipantI saw a couple at the Vespa dealership on lower Queen Anne. I’m pretty sure one was a 500.
shagglesParticipantI can see where having a little extra rubber on the road would have it’s advantages around here. Seems like you should be able to test ride it though. I wouldn’t spend $10K on a bike I couldn’t even take out for a test ride. Of course I think there’s only one Piaggio dealer in town so you can’t really tell him to stick it and go somewhere else.
shagglesParticipantI’m with you on the storage thing. I was originally considering a scooter too. The Italian scooters are overpriced in general and there aren’t a lot of dealers around here so you can’t shop around. Thing is the MP3 is a unique beast. If you want 3 wheels that’s pretty much the only option. The 250’s are less but still more than most 400-500cc 2 wheeler. The Yamaha Majesty and Suzuki Burgman 400 are both around $6K. I really like the look of the Morphous which is a little less because it’s a 250. On the other hand the Honda Silverwing and the Burgman 650 Executive are around the same price as the MP3. If you’re interested in used scooters I saw a 2003 or 2004 Aprilia Atlantic 500 at Moto Internationale up on 77th and Aurora. I think it was $3500 but I couldn’t swear to it.
shagglesParticipantWhen you say you got the swerving by just leaning do you mean using your body weight to initiate the turn? That’s not going to work when your moving at 25 mph and up.
shagglesParticipantSo are there no helmet laws in WI, PA and IL? We’ve had a helmet law in WA for about 20 or 25 years but I do remember a brief period when there was no helmet law but there was a seat belt law. I always found that really odd.
shagglesParticipantMy first bike is a Virago 250. I’ve had it since March 1 of this year.
shagglesParticipantI wonder if he would gone OTB like that if he’d been on a bike instead of a scooter? I’m not trying to put down scooters but it seems like the way you’re just kind of perched on a little seat instead of gripping the bike with your legs is asking for trouble in an accident.
