I know this is subject to opinion, but here goes. I need a commuter bike. i’ll average about 60 miles a day to and from work 5 days a week. all hwy traffic. 70 mph average. I have narrowed my search to 3 bikes. 1st hyosung gv250 2008 (new). 2nd buell blast 2003. 3rd honda vtx 600c 2006. both low miles and priced pretty close. I want something to last me at least 2 years. I am more worried about longevity than i am about price, my experience has been with a rundown gs500 93 and 83 gs650. have been riding for about 3 months. what do you think.

Hyosung has a bad rap for breaking/having missing parts so personally i wouldn’t go there, Buell and especially Honda have good track records so I’d go that way if i were you. Personally I’d get the Honda, but I’m very comfortable with a 600cc bike and i really like the style of that particular bike. though I’ve never ridden one I’ve heard that the Buell has an extremely smooth and even power band, also it is belt drive meaning less maintenance and no lube or tensioning of the chain as it has an spring loaded automatic tensioning system.

hope this helped in some way =)

I’m still trying to find a bike online and I’ve been looking at the Virago for a while now. Glad to hear another positive comment on it. Perhaps my decision is getting closer to being final…. :)

I went to go see the honda. It has been ran into. the speedo and the head lamp are crack and the mirror was snapped off at the base. they said they will sell the parts at cost ( close to 300 dollars). last milage on it was 800 miles. I’m leaning more torwards the buell just because of the set back. But i hesitate. I really don’t know much about them other than what i have read online. does anyobdy have one and give me some advice on the the buell. oh what is the virago top speed? and how does it compare with other bikes. Thanks for the quick reply guys.

My Virago can do 80 on a good day. I ride it on the freeway all the time but if you’re planning daily 60 mile round trips at 70 mph it might not be the best choice. I don’t know much about the Blast either but I hear good things and it’s supposed to get 68 mpg. That’s pretty comparable to the virago.

I’d go with the Buell myself but that’s just my opinion. I’ve come close to buying one now on several occasions.
