ParticipantWell my camera/recorder sux as far as sounds go. Was gonna try and post something…. luckily I played it back before hand. Some reason you can hear my daughter in the background a whole lot clearer then you can the exhaust I am standing beside in the video…. not sure why as in real life that is seriously not the case. So I guess I will read the manual that came with it and see if there’s a way to tweek it any. Sorry…. to be continued….

ParticipantYou know…. I am gonna have to do some diggin on this. Since I work in the auto industry and can tell you all kinds of things about those tires there’s some things I wonder if there is a a parallel to. For instance, new cars…. the tires that come on a shiny new car is not built for anything but smooth ride and maybe …if your lucky 30k miles. You can go back to a shop that deals in that exact brand and even name of tire and it will not be the same. The rubber compound will be harder ( for mileage) the sidewalls will be stiffer ( for handling). Heck in some cases the tread pattern itself will be changed.
I wonder if it tends to be the same for our bikes.
Best thing to do though is to ask the seller questions. What kind of compound is in the tire… a softer rubber (great traction , crappy mileage) or more for long distances. The tread pattern design. Read customer reviews on places that sell bike tires. As with anything the more you ask the more you know. When I go back to work tomorrow I am going to try and make some phone calls to see what I can dig up.Munch
ParticipantNice… mattter of fact… fixin to get me a crampbuster before my 500 mile trip. The bionic gloves though…. eeeh…. see no point in those. $10 and gloves you already have… compared to the $60+ and having to be temperature aware…
Oh well…keeps you writing…
BTW…. the Joke section…tell whoever they do a good job too!Munch
ParticipantNice Color! Nice looking bike too

ParticipantOther then above …. if the bike is sitting in the dealership, ask them to take it out into full sun light. A lot of times you can miss dings, and scratches do to lighting. Sun like has a way of casting shadows seeing how its a single point of light. Ask for maintenance records… history… what did they have to do to prep the bike for sale?

ParticipantVulcan 900 Classic LT
Love:
1- came equipped with saddle bags, windshield and sissy bar
2-Endless possibilities for customizing and comfort
3- Powerful enough to keep up easily with the bigger boys without the insurance bill, yet mild enough to keep a non professional from worrying about exploring the ditches needlessly.
Not-so – much:
1- Fuel Gauge is off….gets annoying seeing it being on “E” and knowing you still have 1.5 gallons. Not trying to run out and push my luck but It’s a 5.3 gallon tank… every time I fill up I only put about 3.5 back in….. grrr dang’d cager habits..lol
2- The Classic LT comes with Spoke rims. This one is give or take… both spoke and mag have strengths and weaknesses. Spoke= inner tube…get a flat replace tube not tire…but stuck without tube. Mag= no tube…get flat…plug…keep chuggin, but have to replace tire :^/
3- Ummm…..edit: and whatcha mean… rain = no ride?! Not this one… as long as ther is no lightning I have come to hate the cage.

ParticipantWow! 6-8 weeks? They handed us ours at the end of the day provided we passed the course. Sorry your having to wait.
Munch
Participantwell it all depends on the situation…. if you really want to throw scenarios…. add to yours a car in front of you in your lane suddenly diving for the cell phone they just dropped. You just accelerated to her hind end.
Every decision is easy when your on the couch on at the desk thinking about it.
Truth is either way the rider needs to live as best he/she can as far ahead of his surroundings as he/she can.Munch
ParticipantWell I guess tomorrow I will try the whole ear plug thing. I never am bothered by it….mostly due to the fact I am an auto mechanic and even at 80 mph the wind noise doesn’t even come close to the crap I hear for 12 hours. Air guns, air chisels, high rev motors, high pitched car alarms that everyone ignores…. you name it. The wind actually is a nice treat for me. I found some laying around so I guess I will try them on in the morning ride to the shop.

ParticipantWe’ve had it happen here in NC atleast twice I can think of… other then wintry precip, lightning containing “storms” is the only time I will not ride. I refuse to become god’s personal moving target. I have waited at gas stations and work … grocery stores you name it.
I feel for his family though and glad the other 5 are good. Not the way you want to take one for the team though.Munch
ParticipantWelcome and grats, look to Vulcan 5oo, V-star 650, Honda Rebel and some others.

ParticipantI don’t carry nor have a want to… I believe prevention is better then a solution and keep my arse out of areas that can put me in any situation like that. However I don’t begrudge those that choose to….hell you may save my arse one day. Only thing I could think of is a boot holster. Though I don’t know what your packin’. I came acrossed a website the other day from a friend in SC, maybe they have something on there. It is jamminleather.com. WARNING this page is not suitable for little ones, the prude, or…. well ….ummm…. censoring types.
