April 27, 2009 at 7:19 pm #18060MunchParticipantWe’ve had it happen here in NC atleast twice I can think of… other then wintry precip, lightning containing “storms” is the only time I will not ride. I refuse to become god’s personal moving target. I have waited at gas stations and work … grocery stores you name it.
I feel for his family though and glad the other 5 are good. Not the way you want to take one for the team though.April 29, 2009 at 1:31 am #18093owlieParticipantAs Munch points out, the problem is that you are isolated from ground. If lightening hits your car, the electrical charge stays on the exterior of your car (ever been shocked getting out of your car?). In the case of a motorcycle, there is no exterior- just you.
