Blackberry Blackberry Blackberry Blackberry Blackberry Blackberry…..nuff said. They’ve been in this longer than almost anyone. While there are other phones that offer more gimmick programs to buy, the black berry is more than adept at scheduling, tasks, etc. It’s what there designed for first and formost. Honestly any model within the last few years will do you just fine if that’s what you need it for.
MaxDadAKParticipantMine WILL be a V Star 250. I recently was at the Yamaha dealership while they unpacked her from the crate and pieced her together. Thing of beauty she is. Unfortunately I won’t be able to get the necessary insurance that gets her from there garage into mine until February 4th. Then I’ll only be able to sit on her and admire until May when I’ll take the MSF and take her out to stretch her legs on the road. Guess it’s not a bad thing. Even if I could ride her now we’ve got Mount Redoubt up here about to erupt. I don’t think I need to explain to anybody here that combustion engines don’t do well with volcanic ash in them.
MaxDadAKParticipantOh don’t even talk about snow or cold. LoL. Us Alaskans just came out of a cold snap of negative 10 and under for a few weeks. I won’t even get to ride until at the earliest May. Even then i’ll only get about 3 months of riding if I’m lucky. Dang lower 48’ers.
MaxDadAKParticipantWhile I can’t reccomend one or the other as a best fit, I’ll offer my advice for a 250. I looked online and asked around alot about 250’s and decided on the V Star 250 due to there reliability and overall performance against other 250’s. It’s a little more costly than other 250’s but it has overall better torque, roll on power (against other 250 cruisers) , and it seems to have a better resale value. Of course this is just the opion of a motorcycle newbie. As far as scooters vs motorcycles I guess it comes down to a combination of what you want to ride and what feels right to you. Just do your research and if possible get your butt in a dealership and see what they have to offer.
MaxDadAKParticipantWell I can see some abuse will happen but overall it’s a great idea. Maybe even give a little highlight on the main page of an original post or topic of the week based on wich ones get the most hits/posts in seven days. Give 3 points for best post and 5 for best forum topic.
MaxDadAKParticipantHey bud welcome to BBM. I’m new motorcycles myself and waiting to take my course as well. I’ve been reading and writing alot for several months now and I can tell you your in the right place. This community is all about getting answers to our questions and having some fun as well. We’ve got newbies like ourselves and more seasoned riders posting everything bike related. Make sure to send a big thanks to Ben for the site.
MaxDadAKParticipantHa ha nice! I’d like to get one of those myself.
MaxDadAKParticipantWelcome and yeah as Elwood and Munch said MSF is a good thing.
MaxDadAKParticipantHey Ben it’s good to see gaming and bikes collide here. Anywho if you get the chance send a friend invite my way I’ve got the Left4Dead myself but don’t really have anyone to hook up with and play alongside. I’m kinda getting bored with the single player campaign. My gamertag is: AK Irish.
MaxDadAKParticipantHey good to see the site up and running again. I was in the same funk munch was when I first saw it was offline. I figured I finally found a good site and BLAMMO it’s off line. Like the updates though very modernesque. (not sure if that’s a word but it looks fancy) Happy new year Ben and take care of yourself and watch those lane splits.
MaxDadAKParticipantI’ve lost several good friends to WoW and don’t plan on following suit. I’m with dcJohn on the XBOX 360. It’s quicker to get on play a game and shut it off with out any real commitment. Not that it isn’t interesting but I just don’t have the time. Now if I were single…………….that way lies madness……as well as a monthly fee. J/K I pay a monthly fee for my XBOX Live account and I think it might cost a little more than a WoW account….hmm….maybe I should rethink it.LoL.
MaxDadAKParticipantHey bud let me know how you like your new ride. I’m getting a V Star 250 (it’s my first ever bike) and was looking at that exact one for my next step up but wasn’t sure if I should go to a 650 or the 950. Also if you don’t mind what’s your build? I”m 5′ 9″ and about 200 and don’t want a bike that’s too big for me. Just for an extra creepy kick if your about the same build as me do you have a pic of you next to or on the bike to look at? The reason I ask is that up here in Alaska the Yamaha dealership only keeps a few Roadliners and Road Stars on it’s showroom floor so I can’t really go in and sit on the ones I’m looking at and make a good judgement.
MaxDadAKParticipantI have some left over medical experience from the Army and I’ll say this about it. If you find your self in that position of “no one else is around and they aren’t breathing”, take off the helmet and perfrom CPR! If they’re not breathing THEY…WILL….DIE period. If they’re neck is broken and you remove the helmet they may die or suffer a worse injury to the spinal cord but still be alive. If you don’t remove the helmet it does seem possible to perform CPR through some helmets especially modulars. If that’s not possible, I say screw it and take it off. Just remember law states now that if you perform CPR that you must continue to perform CPR until properly relieved by a EMT or you just can’t continue. If you fail to do either of these after you begin CPR you can be prosecuted for various negligence type charges. On the other hand if you think your playing it safe and don’t give mouth to mouth and they die from it it’s their blood on your hands for your failure to act. As a little bonus the family of whom ever you failed to help could feasibly bring charges against you since you were CPR qualified and failed to do anything. I’m sure you could say it was for relegious reasons or you were scared but, either way your just going to cheapen your own soul. As you can see it’s a double edged sword. If it were me you better rip my helmet off and give my heart a thrashing like someones life depends on it because in that case mine would. Just do the right thing.
MaxDadAKParticipantMan o man, I’m still waiting for my bike (Virago 250) to get shipped up in January and even then I have to wait till at least May since I’m in Alaska, to do abatement, liscensing, inusrance, yada yada yada. I’m so looking forward to finally becoming one with the two wheeler that I actually waved to a trike on the road from my car this christmas eve and got a wave back! WOOHOO!
Up here though during the summer when I’ve seen bikers wave they just hold a hand down and out away from there body at an angle. Guess different styles for different states. Here’s to those who can, those who did, and those who’ll never live it down.
