ilnamParticipant
I’ve brought this one home myself.

It looks better in person than online, and it has removable CE armor. A couple of the reviews mention 80 and 90 degree temperatures. More images including ones showing the vents are available at newenough:

Hope your knee is okay for the next meet!ilnamParticipantI’m the same way here in Chicago. It’s nice to have a car to supplement the bike or vice versa. Just curious what kind of rain gear you use, spaz. You don’t just stick with those cool Dainese leathers do you?
ilnamParticipantspirit of the site and violation of that spirit? oh boy. i see where both of you are coming from, so I’m going to ramble for a bit. perhaps the primary spirit is one that resonates with the title of this site: best beginner motorcycles. I think we’ve agreed the Ducati GT1000, for the most part, is not the best beginner bike. You’re on this site, which budd just loves, and he is very thankful for its existence. He can’t be blamed for wanting you to someday say you should have started out smaller. That’s what this site promotes, and for good reason. But the nature of that spirit stems from safety. So we’re glad you’re being responsible and as safe as you can with the bike that you bought. I enjoy reading about your experience and progress as well. One more thing, as far as the learning curve being slower than if you started on a smaller bike…well, I guess you can’t REALLY know unless you can somehow unlearn what you’ve already learned and then get a smaller bike and see how your progression goes with that, while still comprehending, as to compare, what you previously learned/unlearned. but that’s just silly talk. you can still have a reasonable hypothesis.
EDIT: Dang, budd sneaked that last post in before mine
ilnamParticipantI agree with budd. Learn to downshift and upshift in traffic properly. I was just saying that most of the times that I slow down is when I have to come to a complete stop anyway, so I just downshift all the way to 1st. For stop signs at non busy intersections I just downshift to 2nd (sometimes still 1st) and do a rolling stop. But back to your situation, I think you might be downshifting too early.
ilnamParticipantLike smoke says, I don’t downshift when slowing to a stop. And, therefore, I don’t downshift much at all. There’s more flexibility when accelerating and going up through the gears, but ease out the clutch if you need to downshift. Also, you might be downshifting too early. If you’re in a high gear, you decelerate a lot before downshifting. Your owner’s manual might even list recommended speeds on when to downshift each gear. I think mine are all lumped within 10-30mph.
ilnamParticipantI just recently got curious about moto gp, so i’ll be looking into it some time soon. I hadn’t thought of bittorrent, but that sounds like a great idea. Thanks!
ilnamParticipantBen said he was going to get PM up again. I have never know this board to have it, but I want it NOW
ilnamParticipantI swear I posted yesterday, but now I don’t see it. Anyway, how did the test go today? I forgot that there were a few tricky questions on my test too. I hated that. I think I could have argued the couple I got wrong, but, instead, I just ran outta there with my permit. If there are any problems today, definitely take it out on the computer!
ilnamParticipantHere’s a tail bag by pacsafe that I like the looks of. However, I don’t like the looks of the price tag, but I’ll continue to shop around and see what’s out there.
http://www.pacsafe.com/www/index.php?_room=3&_action=detail&id=29ilnamParticipantthose look nice to me. I’m also looking at tank bags, but I think I’ll have to go with ones that lock since I want to leave my gym clothes with the bike while it’s at the train station parking lot all day.
ilnamParticipantI’ve noticed this several times on the site. Many of us are newbies and listen to what others have to offer, but we also like to give advice too. Unfortunately, our opinions aren’t always justified. Since I don’t have personal experience with the Ninja 250, I’d choose to accept the authority of someone who does. In this case it’s Budd. But since I’ve heard WeaponZero speak of this several times, I’m curious if he has had some experience with one himself besides his SV650. Perhaps he has a friend or read this in a respectable magazine or website. He has formed this opinion somehow, so what’s up, WZ?
ilnamParticipantGreat. You just called the bike I have cute.
September 24, 2008 at 4:57 pm in reply to: MSF School: Waste of time, waste of money, both, or none of the above……Flamers flame on. #12659ilnamParticipantThis sounds like a good idea to me. And I don’t see them getting offended if you just show interest in more riding with them. If you don’t want to bring up why, then maybe you can submit your comments to them afterward. Any good organization should accept comments/suggestions, so drop off your comment card or an email when you get your P.
ilnamParticipantNinja 250 might be pretty sweet, but don’t forget the 500s either. I enjoy my Suzuki GS500 and they shouldn’t be disregarded like the 600s. And it’s not too small. You’ll do fine on the permit test! Don’t sweat it. Although, I initially scored almost every question wrong, it was actually because they were using the wrong answer key! It got sorted out pretty quick though
