ParticipantI’m pretty liberal with the throttle sometimes, plus i’m riding a zx6r so I only get 42 mpg last time I checked
I think i’m going to pick up an 08 ninja 250 in a year or two once people start selling them that way I can get some great fuel economy with a great looking bike.

ParticipantCool cool, maybe the first BBM ride will have to wait a few months until people get some bikes

ParticipantYeah the ninja 650r is a pretty good beginner bike, about on par with the sv650 since both bikes sport a V-twin engine. The thing you want to avoid is an Inline-Four (I-4) engine over 500cc’s. They are a lot more twitchy and difficult to ride in my opinion. The 650 v-twin is no slouch though, and I would caution your brother to be careful if he is giong to get it. I usually tell new riders to stay away from them unless their ego’s can’t handle anything less than a 600 (or they have dirtbike experience).

ParticipantIf it was just you then I would say that the 250 would be able to handle you no problem, but with a passenger I think it might be pushing it (although maybe not if you only plan on going 55ish tops). Maybe take a look at the ninja 500, or the GS500. Either of those bikes would make great starter bikes (My first bike was a 2002 gs500).

ParticipantI’m practically obsessive compulsive about making sure my blinker is off after my friend told me I was riding with it on for a few miles.

ParticipantHaha you guys got it, squirrly kids
I actually think there are a bunch of origins of the word that you can look up on wikipedia, but I think the Kid one fits the best.

ParticipantYou know what, I REALLY like that fs-10 helmet. I mean like.. REALLY. I already have a helmet, so i’m having a hard time justifying buying another one… It’s just such a pain in the ass switching out the face shields all the time, plus my helmet fogs up pretty bad. The fs10 has a great fog system, and a 1 touch shaded visor.
I need to figure out a way to justify buying an extra helmet…
Anyone have any ideas?

ParticipantClutchless shifting can be done fairly easily, you just have to make sure the bike is in a high enough RPM. I generally use the clutch to shift though, its a good habit to get into in my opinion.

ParticipantVery nice
I’ll have to check them out, I’ve been wanting to get some new moto boots with a more ‘casual’ look.
