Thanks Trials!

BenParticipantReally glad to hear you are alright paul! Crashing is always a tough; I know from experience!
Ben
BenParticipantHey Paul,
I definitely appreciate the offer. I am taking donations through paypal. Right now I make enough through advertising that the server costs are being covered, although there isn’t much left over. Haha I realized long ago that BBM would be more a labor of love than a money making endeavor since occasionally it does dip into the red. I mainly use donations that I receive to purchase motorcycle gear that I review. Unfortunately, thats one of the reasons that I haven’t reviewed much lately; no funds to do so. I’m thankful that ShiftRacing and a few other companies have sent me some free stuff to review that I will be posting about in the coming weeks.
I definitely appreciate the offer for the server The best thing that all users can do is to continue to post on this forum and help the new riders out there. If you want to donate 5 bucks or any amount through paypal then you can be assured the money gets put to good use!

BenParticipantHey Eternal do you live in the UK? I’d be interesting in reviewing these jeans, they seem pretty badass.

Ben
BenParticipantOk, here is what happened last night:
After work I get home, change my oil, and take the bike for a test ride. Now the bike will only shift into 2nd and 3rd! It won’t shift up to 4th, 5th, or 6th, and it won’t shift down to 1st or neutral. This means if I stop, I have to get going from 2nd gear (a pain in the ass!), and it also limits my top speed.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong? I don’t know much about the inner workings, the most I do to my own bike is change the oil, take off the tires, and other minor things. I’m pretty sure it’s either the clutch, or the transmission, but if you asked me to explain the difference between the two I couldn’t.
All of that being said, does anyone know a fairly cheap mechanic? Does anyone know how much the replacement parts will cost? Is it possible to do the work myself? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Ben
Oh yeah, would it ‘hurt’ the bike any more than it is now if I were to ride it to work in 2nd and 3rd gear taking surface streets? Right now I am bicycling to work which is just a bit too far when I have to be there at 6am and it is 9 miles away…
Thanks!
BenParticipantVery cool! I wish you luck!
Ben
BenParticipantWow, I find it odd that I didn’t know you were a woman until this moment Owlie! Haha, funny how you create an image of someone when all you have is a user name to go on.
You should definitely roll again. If you live in the bay area california I could recommend some schools, otherwise I guess you are on your own.
Ben
BenParticipantJ-pop for the win!
BenParticipantLOL I wish I was wealthy, I’m sick and tired of living paycheck to paycheck!
Someday soon I hope to get out of this cycle When that day comes, I’m going to buy myself a ducati! Wait… maybe thats the reason i’m broke? Damn you materialistic society!!!!!!!
Ben
BenParticipantThat sucks Brian! I don’t want BBM to spam anyone. Thats crazy you are getting 40-50 e-mails over a weekend. *sigh* Well I’m going to disable the subscription module for now until I can figure out a better solution. Sorry for the trouble!
Ben
BenParticipantI actually think that Krav Maga is the ‘best’ martial art for those out there that are concerned with real life street fighting, thats probably why cops and the military use it quite a bit. The only things I don’t like about it are the belt tests (that are so hard it is almost at the point of ridiculousness!) and they don’t concentrate on the ground as much as I would like. They do some ground work, but most of it is basic stuff that is meant to get you back to your feet (which is what you want in a street fight, don’t want to be rolling with a guy and have his friend knife you in the back while you aren’t looking!).
BJJ is fun and is probably the sport I will do until I’m an old man. Boxing I’ll probably stop in the next 10 years or so, and it would be nice to get my black belt in Krav Maga, but like I said those tests are nearly impossible (and i’m only a yellow belt!).
To sum it up, if I had to train someone in 6 months to be able to defend themselves I would go with Krav Maga. BJJ and Boxing/wrestling take a lot longer to become ‘good’. Hell, i’m still a whitebelt in Jiu Jitsu and I’ve been rolling regularly for 2 years.
BenParticipantHey Bob,
Ok, I just went to the ‘master settings’ for the subscription module and turned everything off for all users (unless they previously set it in their own settings which I double checked yours). You should NOT be getting any more e-mail. If you are please let me know, I will have to disable the module if for some reason you are still getting e-mail and you don’t want to.
BenParticipantI double checked your subscriptions and unsubscribed you to all the other threads you were previously subscribed to. See if this helps, if not please reply so I can figure out what else is wrong. Thanks Bob!
Ben
BenParticipantLol thanks guys. I’m glad you understand its a labor of love for me. I have so much I want to do with the site, but so little time to do it!
