ParticipantI just got an 07 Ninja and it does the job. Its fun to ride, has a 4.8 gallon tank and is easy to maneuver. Try craigs list and any local classifieds.
Andrew
ParticipantMy MSF was Nighthawks (standard), Rebels (standard/cruiser) and TW200/220’s (dual sports).
Andrew
ParticipantWas that triple-t crown protector an OEM part. I asked my local dealer about one for my Ninja and they said there wasn’t one.
Andrew
ParticipantBy comparison the Ninja was a lot closer to a standard position or even a bicycle position. I have ridden bicycles for ever so it just seemed familiar and familiar was comfortable.
Andrew
ParticipantThe Sportster is about the only HD I would consider owning period. I was just saying that right now as a noob the foot forward thing bothered me. It might not once I had more experience but right now I knew it would hinder my skill development.
Andrew
ParticipantI have the 07 Ninja and it’s stock geared for 155 lbs not 100. Anyone who says that has no idea what they are talking about. You are probably to tall for the Ninja but you don’t need a 600cc engine. You probably need a taller bike so your legs feel comfortable but taller doesn’t mean you need 600cc.

ParticipantMy bike is candy blue so I’ll have to decide which color combination will be least bad.
The red and yellow probably work better than the green. I’m leaning towards the red or the green. The green kind of appeals to me but the red would give me a red, white and blue color scheme.
Andrew
ParticipantFunny. I caught it right at the end but I was kinda expecting something.
Andrew
ParticipantMy rider coach said that once you ride alot you will start keeping your Frogg Toggs in/on the bike at all times.

ParticipantMost women are open to the barter system. If you can afford it you convince her by telling her you will buy her a diamond ring worth the same as the bike. If she is someone who is convinced that a bike is instant death then you are unlikely to ever change that opinion.
I convinced my wife by starting with the scooter idea and then slowly moving to the bike based on how much safer a bike is in fast moving traffic. My wife was fine until I passed MSF and then she was cool. She is dealing with it because it’s something I want to do and I am going to do it within certain guidelines. The protective gear is a no brainer. The ban on Interstate riding is fine now but I may get sick of that once I am comfortable riding at speed.

ParticipantNice bike. Theres no way that it can be considered a standard though with that forward foot position. Thats what killed the cruiser style for me. As a noob I can lean into a corner on the Ninja with comfort. I didn’t even want to try a corner on a cruiser because it felt so alien to have your feet in that position and then have to lean.
Andrew
ParticipantYou could take the class again or you could do the same exercises in a parking lot once you had a bike or on a mates bike. Don’t buy a new bike for self practice though get a used 250 Ninja or cruiser to practice on and it will be more forgiving on your skills, wallet and ego. I can’t imagine having a brand new bike and the stress with not wanting to scratch or drop it.
Andrew
ParticipantWierd. Logged out and back in and they appeared.
Andrew
ParticipantNice. The Yellow Hi-Viz looks green to my eyes.
So the 3/4 length doesn’t interfere with riding once the bottom is unzipped? I’m in Illinois so it does get bloody hot in summer but Spring and Fall are the months where I will need to handle the cooler and wetter weather. I do have an old classic leather biker jacket that I’m using now but it’s not waterproof and it doesn’t have any armor in it. It’s 20 years old but in decent nick other wise.
I am also thinking about these 2 Tourmaster sport jackets:
http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/textile_jackets_and_pants/cortech_by_tour_master/fsx_textile_motorcycle_jacket.htmlThe first one is $117 which is an attractive price. They also both come in a 38 which is my size.
For pants I’m looking at getting the FirstGear Textile Over pants that have been reviewed here.
Andrew
ParticipantI just can’t understand who would invest 39G in a bike and not already know how to ride it.
