ParticipantI don’t see any pins at all. I also don’t see the option to add mine back in.

ParticipantThe guys who ran my MSF class were laid back and just helped people with issues rather than dismissing them. I had problems with stalls on the first 2 ride days (class was 5 evenings). The stalling is an issue with giving the bike a little more gas but also in letting out the clutch slowly without dropping it. I have small hands and the friction zone was away from the grip so I was still in the friction zone when my hand was fully open. Initially I was dropping the clutch at that point rather than just continuing to slowly release and changing my hand position if needed. The balance issue will be the same thing. You just need to practice the basics over and over to get them drilled in.
Did you drop the bike a lot before they dismissed you? Just stalling the bike wouldn’t have gotten you dismissed.

ParticipantI’m covering the front brake just to get my hand in a good stable position. I’m not planning on using it during a low speed turn. For me it allowed smoother control because my dominant fingers are not on the grip any more.

ParticipantFor reference I own 2 cars that do not show the same speed as the “you are going signs”. My Mitsubishi Galant shows me doing 3 more than the sign always does.

ParticipantI did some circles last night and found it really helped with my slow turning and getting confidence with the bike lean at a slower speed. Parking lot isn’t flat so I was having to use more rear brake when going downhill and less when going up. I kept the clutch and the throttle in the same place but just used the rear brake to make those small speed adjustments. I did also notice how the right hand turn is harder for me. I found that covering the front brake allowed me to get a more controlled grip on the throttle so I wasn’t changing the throttle position by putting weight on it.

ParticipantThe Monster and the FZ6 should be on a different list.

ParticipantI don’t care what bike someone is riding it or how old they are. Anyone riding on the street wearing t-shirt, shorts and flip flops is engaging in squid-like behavior.

ParticipantYou could get a new Honda Rebel for that price.

ParticipantNow that I’m a rider and notice bikes everywhere I have been surprised how often I see a bike that is parked without the handlebar lock engaged or even the handlebars turned to the left in some cases. Now my office is pretty safe but I’m not sure why the handlebars are not turned while the side stand is in use.

ParticipantThe Ninja 250 forum I found agreed with the manual on only using regular 87 octane gas. Each bike will be different so just double check before you fill up.

ParticipantWe don’t need to go there. The rider who wears jeans, boots, gloves and sunnies is taking a risk just like the rider who wears a helmet but no other riding gear. They are both taking risks. Just different ones. Both of them are likely to have opinions that are hard to change and make life difficult for those of us that do care about safety gear.
Andrew
ParticipantUses the reverse trike formation that a few scooters like the MP3 have been using. The Spyder looks like it will handle more like a car though with those wide front wheels.
Andrew
ParticipantLets be serious here. The majority of the riders I see without helmets are from the generation before mine. I’m 34 and have no problem protecting my brain but to the older riders helmets are just not cool. They were not cool when they started riding and to them they are not cool now. I would bet it’s like a religion to most of them and you never change someones religion in a discussion.

ParticipantThey have 2 different seat heights available. Go and sit on one and see how it feels.
