Yes. Is called being a walk in. I got there at 4.55 pm for a 5:30 start to make sure I was first. There was 12 on the class list with 2 people on the wait list. I was hoping that 3 people wouldn’t show and I could sneak in. 5 people didn’t show and the class is short 2 people. I am still booked for late August but they basically processed me as an unpaid person and had me fill out an extra form. I need to cancel the other class to get my original $20 back.

AndrewParticipantAsked the instructor and he said we will ride in rain bit not in a storm. So to bring any rain gear if it’s on the forecast. right now it says 80 and sunny. Not sure what to do for gloves. I have some gardening gloves that should work, or I could go buy something from the bike dealership.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantYou in CA by any chance? I’ve heard of up to 2K in other fees in CA based on demand. The bikes are a hot commodity and the dealers take advantage of it.
Andrew
AndrewParticipant3rd time lucky as a walk in tonight. 5 people didn’t show and I was the only walk in so the class only has 10. Might have been the big thunderstorm we had during class. Video’s and book work was little dry tonight but we get to ride on Wednesday.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantHave to disagree there. I see so many people doing things other than paying attention while driving, and phones are only 1 of them, that it’s obviously not common sense.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantI like the look of the Monster more than the Shiver although they both have a nice industrial look that I really like. As a complete noob they are too much bike though. I’ll be looking for a 250 cruiser once I have completed the MSF.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantThe sandals are a nice touch. Some people are just awaiting their Darwin awards. He’s got good balance I’ll give him that.
I did see a new squid move on the way home. An old dude on his tourer smoking a sherlock Holmes pipe.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantI’m all about safety. So I’ll practice my texting on my bicycle until I have my M license and a bike. That way I can safely text and ride at the same time.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantThere are scary people who drive. My personal favorite is the guy reading the paper at a light and someone reading a book while driving. Many people just have a lack of respect for the road and the speed they are doing. They are incapable of just driving they have to multi-task.
Most of the erratic drivers I see on the road are on a cell phone.
Andrew
AndrewParticipant45 isn’t unusual here. Theres a 3 lane road here that goes from one end of town to the other that is a 45mph zone. It’s part of my commute so I’ll have to deal with sections of it once I’m riding.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantSo a sport bike is essentially easier because it’s more upright than an standard or a cruiser. It also has a shorter wheelbase and a higher center of gravity. So why do the MSF courses tend to use standards and dual purpose bikes rather than sport bikes. Is it the power or the problem of getting a noob to psychologically commit to a lean in the sport bike riding position?

AndrewParticipantI live in a College town and the the number of scooters on the road has gone up significantly this year. Hardly any of them wear any gear though. A guy at my work commutes on a Vino 125 but only wears a helmet. Most of the college kids wear shorts, t-shirt and sandals right now. I hope they don’t all have to learn the hard way.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantI was there at 5pm 2 days in a row. I was the first walk in on Wednesday and the 2nd on Thursday. I’ll go earlier than half an hour next time. I could go onto a wait list for a class closer than the one I am in but I don’t really want to give up that spot and then not get into another class. I don’t know the odds but the classes are very busy and July will just bring warm sunny weather. The instructor did tell me that rain normally means a few no shows and a good chance of getting in.
Andrew
AndrewParticipantStruck out again last night missing out by 1. 2 people on the wait list got in and a walk in that got there earlier than I did.
