Sounds like a good time. Glad that you were able to find better instruction. :)

No shame in admitting to having watched that movie… :) Personally, I thought that it was better than Ella Enchanted, which came out about the same time. I love kid’s movies. Often, they put everything into perspective.

Unfortunately I have a June deadline that I have already spent the last six months procrasting on. If I screw this up because I’m researching bikes, I’ll be umm… well, I won’t express how angry with myself I’ll be since it might disturb the sensitive souls that read this board. :)

Have fun, work away, I’ll get back to researching bikes on June 7th.

BTW, there is a nice article on outfitting inexpensively elsewhere on the site: Inexpensive Gear Guide

Eternal, you beat me to the punch. ;) I was going to offer up my services; can’t do it for another couple of weeks, but it would be a good chance to research different bikes…

If you have time, go for it, otherwise, I’ll see what I can do in June. :) Or maybe we can split?

Have you considered trying men’s pants? They should have a longer inseam.

I would guess that the major issue is that if you are hippy, you might find them too loose in the thighs and knees…

My must be the luckiest sucker in the world. Everyone tells me this, but even though I get down there 2-3 times a year, I can only remember it being drizzly and overcast once… :)

LOL – Next time I go, it will be raining and miserable. :)

    Totally agree. :)

I’d been looking for a similar guide but all I could seem to find was site trying to sell me helmets. It was a great article.

    Thanks!

    Okay, so I don’t ride yet, but I can imagine… :)

    Pros:
    Mountains with twisty roads
Looonng days. At the summer solstice, dusk never turns to dark.
Even if you don’t bike, you probably know several people who do.
Rush hour typically doesn’t turn the highways into a parking lot in the summer.
It gets warm, but never what I would call hot. (People start complaining about the heat when it hits the upper 70s).

    Cons:
Tourists. Yah, we like the revenue, but the RVs are another story since most of our major highways are two lane.
Road trips aren’t nearly as fun as in the lower 48.
Dusk. It extends forever and makes it harder to see motorcycles.
Winter seems to start in mid October and end in early April. Spring doesn’t arrive until May.

    oops, sorry.

A brightline is a (generally arbitrary) guideline that there are some sort of consequence for passing. Speed limits might be a good example. (yes, there are safety/engineering reasons for most, but if anyone can explain to me why school zones can be anything from 10 to 25mph, I’d be happy to know. :) )

I’ll check out the comments in 600cc is too much guide for further discussion.

    Thanks,
    Owlie

Funny you say that about not being able to find the bike you want in the UK… A common complaint on this side of the ocean is not being able to find a good selection of smaller bikes for beginners, where I guess you guys have more variety. :)

Welcome to the forum, and good luck finding a bike!

I think that our friend WayneStar has checked out on us. You do raise some good points though. I’m going to start a new thread so we can continue the conversation…

Too be fair, the general consensus around here is that 600cc is too much for a newbie.

The problem is that you didn’t give anyone any basis on which to answer your question. So, instead, you get unhelpful mockery. Stinks, doesn’t it? :)

Have you ever been on a bike before? Or is this your first bike, but you’ve been riding your cousins’ dirt bikes since you were a toddler? Why do you think that this might be a bike you are interested in?
