sounds like an enjoyable evening. The sensor wires here I find are sensitive in most spots, if I can manage it I put the position of the bike where the “wire” is just to the left of my tire. I know it’s different state to state but if I think the light is running longer then it should I usually give the throttle a quick goose. Sometimes it works. Wouldn’t recommend chillin on the right a waving a driver up though. The cages behind them won’t understand and I am not entirely sure (is I am understanding what your saying) that it would be legal. I usually look behind me and motion the cager to come closer…. you get a confused puppy dog look at first but they eventually catch on , especially if you poin at the light then back at them and wave them closer.
As far as lane positioning… I would recommend staying near middle if there is something to your left. You still get heads up time to get the hell out of dodge should they encroach on your lane but you are also “protecting” your lane to keep cars from trying to share it with you. Not to mention the visibility factor for the driver in front and behind you.

you my friend have not been on the bricks paying close attention. There are people everyday fighting forceful seat belt laws. Sit in a traffic court room for a full day and you can hear numerous arguments to no avail against forceful seat belt laws. Back in the 80’s there were serious organization and movements against it. How it came to pass to law… well look to your G-men (now women too) that passed the laws and what motivated them to do it. Not every state enforces it either. It also does not include all modes of 4 wheel transportation.

Not yet…but thank you for finding it. I just looked at that ghost jacket and think I just might be in the market for one. I just got a new back tire put on the nine and had a conversation with a rep for some of the brands their. Told him my biggest complaint was the lack of reflective stuff on leathers…. you just solved that problem for me.

It’s called revenue generation. Sorry , I have seen a lot worse here. Matter of fact that’s probly one of the more well lit sport bikes I have seen. Barring the tiny strips on the front. However if they are bright enough then it still should not matter. To have two LEO’s on the same strip…. you ran into a “trap” where they are looking for anything to pull ya for. Cage or not.

Congrats! yea always seems like when you get a new toy to play with everything starts to happen to keep you from it. Hope you took the rain time to look the bike over and get very familiar with everything on it.

good eye. The leads there for it? They might not have included the bulbs there for the sake of aesthetics.

Which one do you feel more comfortable with….never mind money never mind what we say. Comfort lends a lot to safety. In general when people ask I would point them towards what they can flat foot. However you have 2 completely different style bikes there and you really need to go do a sit down on both and compare.

Ouch. Glad you had a good time.
Loud pipes “can” save lives at times… but that doesn’t give you a pass slip to bust ear drums. I just de-baffled the stocks on my 9 and they are loud enough to hear about 1/2 mile away if I am really gagging it. It doesn’t do much purpose on highways or for anything in front. For me the purpose is “the lady doing her nails about to blow the light” types that I catch in my mirrors. I can gag the throttle and wake them up. I soooo avoid riding in town they just stress me out. Too much for everyone to look at except whats in front of them.
I wish we had more rides and bike fests here… I think the biggest we have is sponsored by Scootworks. The HD dealers have some also but I am really gun shy about those, alot of unsavory types like to attend to, between their back up and my …well let’s just say if they get on the redneck side of me…. the outcome will likely be bad.. so for sake of prevention I choose avoidance. Of course having your Saturdays a mandatory workday does not hinder that process either. Wish someone would do somethign on Sunday every now and again.

1st…Take pictures of every nook and cranny you can while it’s all together. Then WRITE down ideas that you have for it. It’s a nice looking ride. Awesome to hear when sometimes it seems fate steps in a gives you something. Very awesome for the guy to realize that.
As far as suggestions… what you looking for as far as answer? You should already have been well on your way to logging serious I-net time on OE parts, custom parts, custom part makers that like doing one-offs, finding paint shops, powder coating shops, tire manu’s , list goes on and on.
Congratulations BTW…. there goes you available garage space for the next couple of years..lol

I am eventually going to do the same myself. Though I have seen some Ninja’s around when I ride… those things have very little lighting to be noticed for sure…. for my 9 I am going with the conversion to get the turn signals to be multifunctions also. 3 red lights are better then one. you can try this site:
    http://www.bikerhiway.com/electropods-flashing-led-motorcycle-brake-lights-red-leds-p-336.html
Their not custom but really add ons. If you do a search for sport bikes in particular you may find some that are made for your bike specifically. I am finding most are for cruisers though. I haven’t really looked into it a whole lot as for right now I already need to replace a tire, looking to get the front pulley and needing a new summer jacket.
    Another good one I see:

Knight Rider huh…… You sportin a Hasselhoff hair do? You should be fine with white….couldn’t help but mess with ya…. well as long as it isn’t skin tight and some what plastic looking…then we’re talking whole new ball park. Or as Clay says…. make sure that no one gets after it with the “be dazzler”…OMG or Fringes either…..lol.
It’s as much style as it is visibility matter of fact I need to go find me a good summer jacket myself. My winter one I bought a size to big so I could layer. Now without those layers the thing bunches up in front of me and I look like I have a spine coming out of my chest thanks to the zipper. I am going back with black…or maybe a distressed look… but that’s just me, though I find it hard locating one that has reflective piping on it. I am all about hte reflective stuff… especially since I ride in all types of lighting.

For me…not only no but hell no. Sorry… reflective tape and some such will do me better then a white leather jacket….sorry personal preference. Some how that conjured up an image of the scene in Beverly Hills Cop when Axel was cruising down Rodeo Dr for the first time and started laughing at the M. Jackson leather jacket remakes like he wore in thriller.
You might could pull it off though. For me…by the time I got home… between the bug guts and the grease thats still hangs on me from work… it would be off white-ish with nice colorful dots all over the place.
However I always question the white is more visible idea. I thought it about the other day and noticed all the white, grey, beige…basically neutral and light colored cars that are on the road. I started to wonder how de-sensatized we have become to those colors now that almost every one has a vehicle of the same shade.

My argument never was about safety. FF absolutely surpasses all in the help it can provide in the way of protection. In rain, cold, and longer journeys I put my full face on. More often then not I have my FF on my sissy bar for just in case.
I really didn’t mean for it to be a thread jack either. As Elwood could probly understand maybe more then some, with the times we have been living in and with all the craptastic laws that are popping up the one statement just got on the wrong side of me.
Never will you see me tell a beginner or even a vet that a FF is less protective then any other helmet.
As far as Snell Vs DOT. I have heard all the arguments. Locally to be honest there aren’t that many Snell cert’ed helmets around. A lot of times it seems like it’s used more for price jacking then it is for the purpose of safety. I am sure it has it’s merits, but those merits for me aren’t worth the extra $100-$200 in hopes that IF I get nailed twice in the head the helmet is “control tested” to withstand it. Granted in a world of chaos lightning rarely strikes twice in the same spot…..unless like with that test…. your aiming intentionally for it to.
