    mine is definitely longer…

basically, go to bike shop…. try on jackets and go and sit on a motorcycle in your riding position… as long as it doesn’t bunch up in riding position, i’d say longer is better… also make sure that the arms are long enough…

my jacket covers my riding pants so that there is no gap…. if you wear this jacket with riding pants, i am guessing you’d have a 3-5″ swath of no protection and you wouldn’t be able to zip them together..

actually, that is a good idea of length… get the matching pants, and zip together the jacket (pant zipper sits at the top of your hips and jacket zipper sits about 2-4″ from bottom of jacket)… if you can’t zip ’em together, then it is too short

I ride a 250R (08)… and it is a great commuter. I am probably heading to Thunderhill in about 3 weeks for my first track day if I can find affordable leathers (kinda want those ones we saw at Dainese shop, spaz :S ). Eventually, I want to work up to riding a track in something like an R1.

I didn’t get a motorcycle to save gas, I didn’t get a motorcycle to commute… I got a motorcycle to have fun and go quickly (in twisties and even faster on a track).

So, the reason I posted this link is because the microsite has the best explanation of what cross plane crank shaft is doing. This is the first production (non-race bike) to incorporate this technology…. this is not HP wars… it is throttle response and vibration control… this has nothing to do with the limits of the bike but how it rides in all RPM range in all situations…

personally, i find any advancement in motorcycle technology interesting…

you should be accelerating slightly through a turn… this raises your rear wheel and gives you more suspension travel…. try it, you will notice that the turn feels way more comfortable…

of course, this can mean that you need to enter the corner slower

as for clutch… i let it out pretty quickly, but I have matched rpm before it is released… if it is lurching or chirping, you’ll go down in the rain…

I am taking my bike to dealer for the regular service intervals… but I change the oil myself between those visits

you should never take any vehicle to jiffy lube type of place to get oil changed… their purpose is to get as many cars through as possible. When you change your oil, you want it to drain for 30-50 minutes… go grab a beer and play a bit of NHL 08.

The reason you do this is because some of your oil will have thickened due to heat/use… you really want to give this gunky stuff some time to drain…

btw, it is super easy to do yourself. I did it on my sidestand the first time, but I have a swingarm stand now.

what bike? if it is a ‘beginner bike’ one of us has probably already changed the oil on it and can give you some tips…

if you change the pipes, yes…. if you are just getting a slip-on.. you can get away without rejetting…

“squids” explains one side of the division…

for us sport bike riders, we have an aversion to cruisers because they are often louder, less likely to have full face shield, slow in the twisties, and they don’t get out of the way!

    lol :P
