Picked up a vid cam the other day and started shooting mellow rides. Here’s some vids of a some of the roads that I think are fun. The vid cam audio’s crappy, very crackly but vid from the vid cam’s pretty good. It’s best to watch them in high quality in Youtube, but even high quality in youtube has quite a few issues, like making “darker” shaded areas seem like night as well as some artifacts not present in the original vid extracted from the camera. A few mis-upshifts as well… *it happens…
9-35-84 Woodside. Main fun part of my morning commute – Starts from Saratoga 9 to 4 corners (intersection of 9 and 35) to 35 Skyline to 84 Woodside. This was shot on Saturday a little later in the day. Fun roads. The 84 part is pretty boring though as I got stuck behind a couple of slow SUVs. I cut the beginning of the 9 run since I was stuck behind that truck from the start of Saratoga. 9 doesn’t really have any long enough straights to do any safe passing.
Uvas loop. This is one of my favorite loops. Snellbux to Bailey Rd. (via Santa Teresa) to Uvas to 152 to 1 to Soquel/Old San Jose to Old Santa Cruz. Actually, the fun starts with this loop around 1/2 way through Baily Rd. The first vid in the playlist contains the boring Santa Teresa, slab stuff. The second vid in the playlist starts the loop from Bailey Rd, although still some of the Santa Teresa slab.
Uvas via McKean. This is hitting Uvas from the opposite direction of Santa Teresa through Almaden. The McKean part is quite fun as well.
I’ll get to doing a run on 84 Pescadero to Pescadero Rd. to 1 to 84 Woodside. That’s a pretty awesome loop as well… Well the highway 1 portion is short, straight and boring. But it’s a really fun loop as well. The full loop would be 9 – 35 – 84 Pescadero (west) – Pescadero Rd. – 1 – 84 Woodside (east) and stop at STP/Alice’s at 35+84.

BuddParticipantYou have some pretty curvy roads on you way to work.
