After being out of riding for 25 years and not keeping myself in the best physical condition, I have noticed that riding is taking a toll on my body right now.. My legs mostly.. Sore muscles.. leg cramps.. But I figure these will pass in time with more riding.. Also I’ve had a bad back for 20 years.. So it’s been a bit more sore than usual.. But nothing I can’t tolerate.. Also from the sitting potion of the cruiser I sometimes get some pain in my hip.. But that seems to be happening less since I’ve been riding regularly..

Hey! Don’t hate on the V-Stars! lol.. Personally I like the big tank.. After sitting on bikes I was down to either the V-Star or the Shadow myself.. Both nice bikes IMO.. I know what you mean about the Suzuki’s being tiny.. I sat on a Savage 650 and felt like I was on a kids tricycle.. The final factor for me was the seat height.. The V-Star was a bit higher than the Shadow and felt more comfortable to my legs.. Glad you found what fits you.. Now get out there and earn some cash to buy one!

Still working on my first tank of gas.. So I’ll let ya know when I fill up… I was going to go with the Virago because I didn’t want to spend much on a first bike.. But I got such a deal on this one I couldn’t pass it up.. Has a little left side damage from a fall but runs perfect.. So got it for 2300.. You can see the dent in the tank in one of the pics.. Also tweaked the handlebars a bit and bent the left foot peg and rear turn signal.. In all the parts (Not including the tank) cost me 160.. So waiting for them to arrive so I can replace the damaged pieces.. But it’s all cosmetic.. I’m riding it every day now…

Welcome and glad your bike is working out for you.. I went with a 650 for my first bike as well and I’m loving it.. Though even after a week of riding I can tell it won’t be long before I want the 1100… Ride safe..

Well according to the companies sizing chart I fall smack in between a L and an XL.. So I opted for the XL.. This has always been my problem with ordering clothing online.. Never seems to fit right the first time.. *crosses his fingers* Hopefully it fits cause I need it for my MSF class in 2 1/2 weeks…

I actually found one I liked on LeatherUp.com so now I just need to wait for it to get here and hope it fits right.. I hate buying clothing on the net.. I like to be able to try things on..

Thanks for all the advice all..

My friend who rides, swears by his windshield.. Says it deflects most of the wind and helps him keep more stable at highway speeds on his Harley..

Most of the leather armored jackets I have seen have been more sport style rather than cruiser.. Also they tend to be quite pricey as compared to the textile armored jackets.. After looking around some more today I have found a couple armored leather jackets within my price range that have a more cruiser look to them..

Personally I think the Rebel is a great bike.. Especially for shorter riders.. Hope you’re having a blast with it.

Hey Matt.. Gratz on passing the MSF.. Have mine coming up in 3 weeks.. The only good thing about the economy being so bad is everyone is in need of money.. So there’s a lot of decent bikes going pretty reasonable.. Just picked up my V-Star for 2300.. Bet you have some nice drives up there.. Looking forward to next summer and maybe riding up the coast here in Cali..
