ParticipantVery nice. I am thinking about getting a 650 custom when I upgrade from the virago in a year or so. How does the 650 do on gas mileage?

ParticipantStill working on my first tank of gas.. So I’ll let ya know when I fill up… I was going to go with the Virago because I didn’t want to spend much on a first bike.. But I got such a deal on this one I couldn’t pass it up.. Has a little left side damage from a fall but runs perfect.. So got it for 2300.. You can see the dent in the tank in one of the pics.. Also tweaked the handlebars a bit and bent the left foot peg and rear turn signal.. In all the parts (Not including the tank) cost me 160.. So waiting for them to arrive so I can replace the damaged pieces.. But it’s all cosmetic.. I’m riding it every day now…

Participantwow, so you got the V-Star 650 for less than a V-Star 250? thats sick. how’s the weight? I know that the 650 V-Stars aren’t runaways with the power, but it’s a bit bulkier than I think I’d feel comfortable tackling for my first bike. which is not any kind of criticism for you, mind you, I’m a bit overcautious…and short. but at $2300…I might overcome said squeamishness. that things beautiful especially for what you paid for it. man someone got suckered

ParticipantThe weight on it is comfortable for me.. I definitely would not want to go any heavier for a first bike.. Or maybe ever honesty.. Being taller I can control the balance pretty well. Though I did drop it once coming up the driveway for the first time and needed help getting it back upright.. And as far as the price.. Yeah.. Was a sweet deal I couldn’t pass up… THANK GOD FOR CRAIGSLIST! lol It does have some damage from when the previous owner dropped it, which is why he was selliing it cheap.. But all cosmetic.. And I’ve already fixed all of it short of the dent in the tank on the left side.. And it’s only cost me 200 bucks.. So my final investment in the bike has been 2500… Of course now I’m obsessed with how can I mod it.. Eyeing the forward controls/peg extensions next…
