One of the first things I did when I got my bike was fill the tank completely and waited until I ran out of gas before I filled it up again.. For myself, I found it easier to just pull over and switch to reserve… Now I know that when I get close to 160miles it’s time to fill my tank… As for where your reserve switch is.. It should be on the left side under the tank.. Just turn the knob so that the handle part is facing the setting you want.. On/Off/Reserve.. I think there was a thread on this somewhere that I read a while back…

Most health insurance will pay for your pills no matter if it’s an accident or you’re just sick… Like I said.. The insurance is mostly for other people who are involved in the accident.. So if you’re at fault and someone else gets injured.. Your insurance would pay their bills so you don’t get sued… Well.. They still may try to sue you.. But at least not for medical bills.. Though you might want to check your health insurance first to double check.. Personally I’m not aware of a health coverage plan that doesn’t cover accidental injuries.. But always best to call them and ask..

Well my first thought is the traffic flow.. You seem to be very concerned with slowing down in fast moving traffic.. If you need to slow for the turn, fuck the people behind you.. They can slow down to match your speed or switch lanes… I won’t say “No one” but most drivers are not going to run you over when you slow down to take a turn.. The worst thing you can do is feel rushed by cars behind you and take a turn too fast just so you don’t inconvenience someone else.. Don’t let them control your riding that way.. Do what’s safe and what you feel comfortable with and let them make adjustments to you.. I know the few times I’ve made stupid mistakes was when I allowed myself to feel pressured to get out of the way fast when I should have just done the right thing for me..

As for down shifting.. I know for me it varies.. If I know I’m going to need throttle I will usually down shift a gear at a time… But if I’m coming to a complete stop at a light I’ll just down shift all the way to first…

Phil.. My normal Heath coverage would cover most of my hospital bills in the case of an accident.. So mostly it’s to cover any damage I do to someone else.. In the case of me hitting a car or a car hitting me.. Odds are that I will be the one with the injuries more so than someone in a car.. But insurance is just that.. Something that you hope you never have to use but it gives you piece of mind.. Everyone has a different price on that piece of mind.. If you want to be very secure that all the bills will be paid (Which honestly I’ve yet to have an insurance company actually pay out what they said they would) then it is going to cost you more…

And ignore the 30k comment. Had a momentary brain fart there…

Unless you’re driving a 30k bike.. Drop your liability to at least 20/40…

Phil.. Yer doing something wrong.. I have a great rate with Geico and I’m in LA.. Either you’re getting WAY too much coverage or too low of a deductable..

The weight on it is comfortable for me.. I definitely would not want to go any heavier for a first bike.. Or maybe ever honesty.. Being taller I can control the balance pretty well. Though I did drop it once coming up the driveway for the first time and needed help getting it back upright.. And as far as the price.. Yeah.. Was a sweet deal I couldn’t pass up… THANK GOD FOR CRAIGSLIST! lol It does have some damage from when the previous owner dropped it, which is why he was selliing it cheap.. But all cosmetic.. And I’ve already fixed all of it short of the dent in the tank on the left side.. And it’s only cost me 200 bucks.. So my final investment in the bike has been 2500… Of course now I’m obsessed with how can I mod it.. Eyeing the forward controls/peg extensions next…

I went with Geico and didn’t go overboard on the insurance.. 15/30 with 1k deductable.. But included uninsured motorist, bodily injury, and theft.. For my 2002 V-Star 650 Custom I’m paying $295 a year.. That’s without my MSF course yet.. So it should go down when I take the course next week..
