I have Geico also and you are getting WAY more coverage than I got. I have:

Uninsured Motorist Bodily Injury $20,000/40,000 – $95.00
Comprehensive $500.00 deductible – $35.00
Collision $500.00 deductible – $137.00Total Premium: $341.00
October 20, 2008 at 8:03 pm #14074DaggerParticipantYeah.. That’s why yours is so expensive.. My coverage is only for 15,000/30,000 and 10k on property damage liability…

October 20, 2008 at 8:16 pm #14076PhilParticipantJust requoted … and got this:
BODILY INJURY LIABILITY $50k/$100k
PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $15,000
RESIDUAL MEDICAL PAYMENTS $500
SUPPLEMENTARY UNINSURED MOTORIST $50k/$100k
COMPREHENSIVE $1,000 DED.
COLLISION $1,000 DED.
PED-PIP BASICTotal Premium: $980
I asked why its sooo expensive and the best they could come up with is the ticket (adds 1 point) and inexperience (adds 2)
But even without 3 points she said that my premium would be only about $300 cheaper……. what the hell !!!!October 20, 2008 at 8:18 pm #14077CandiceParticipantYou mean I FINALLY got a deal on something???!!!!!! WOW.
October 20, 2008 at 8:19 pm #14078DaggerParticipantUnless you’re driving a 30k bike.. Drop your liability to at least 20/40…

October 20, 2008 at 8:25 pm #14079PhilParticipantwhat has the price of my bike to do with bodily …. bodily is what they will pay for my injuries… right?
What they pay for the bike is anything above deductable…
So especially since I am on a vehicle with no protection (airbag etc …) I want my injury payments to be high god forbidd …Please educate me if i am being a foreigner
October 20, 2008 at 8:26 pm #14080CandiceParticipantSorry, that comment about getting a deal on something was for Dagger. How do I insert to respond to someone so my post comes up below what they posted? I tried to hit reply but it doesn’t give me anywhere to write anything. sorry, new to this forum stuff.
Phil – Did you go on line to Geico and get a quote so you can pick what you want? Pick all the lowest numbers just for kicks and see what price it gives you. Or call up again and ask them for the bare minimum coverage and what the price is. This pricing is ridiculous they are giving you. Also did you take the MSF course so you get a discount?
October 20, 2008 at 8:38 pm #14081DaggerParticipantPhil.. My normal Heath coverage would cover most of my hospital bills in the case of an accident.. So mostly it’s to cover any damage I do to someone else.. In the case of me hitting a car or a car hitting me.. Odds are that I will be the one with the injuries more so than someone in a car.. But insurance is just that.. Something that you hope you never have to use but it gives you piece of mind.. Everyone has a different price on that piece of mind.. If you want to be very secure that all the bills will be paid (Which honestly I’ve yet to have an insurance company actually pay out what they said they would) then it is going to cost you more…
And ignore the 30k comment. Had a momentary brain fart there…

October 21, 2008 at 1:07 pm #14118PhilParticipantsomeone explain what Heath coverage is … oh lol health? Ok now i am really confused.
Lets say .. god forbid… mister x runs over a banana and slips. He has a complicated fracture of .. lets say … his knee. His reconstructive surgery comes out to costing him 40,000.
X has 15k/30k bodily and a health plan from work.
sooooooo … I think, and I want to underline THINK because I really am not basing this on any knowledge, I think that 15k will be payed out by his motorcycle insurance and the other 25k he has to pay privately. I dont think that his health insurance kicks in because its an accident. (why else would people with health insurance have to have this coverage?)October 21, 2008 at 3:25 pm #14132DaggerParticipantMost health insurance will pay for your pills no matter if it’s an accident or you’re just sick… Like I said.. The insurance is mostly for other people who are involved in the accident.. So if you’re at fault and someone else gets injured.. Your insurance would pay their bills so you don’t get sued… Well.. They still may try to sue you.. But at least not for medical bills.. Though you might want to check your health insurance first to double check.. Personally I’m not aware of a health coverage plan that doesn’t cover accidental injuries.. But always best to call them and ask..

October 21, 2008 at 5:56 pm #14140DeD FredParticipantI pay $175 a year for full everything coverage.
When I had a Harley (yeah I know) Geico wants $980 a year, my buds were paying no more than $300 a year. So I found a broker, and he got me into a $300 a year deal.
That was 5 years ago, my borker now handles both cars, the truck, bike and home.
