BouncingRadicalParticipant
I’ve been trying out the kickstand little trick and and it has worked pretty good so far. Except on the lights that have moved the wire so much you have no idea which one is the right one, then its a guessing game heh. On ones that have only one it works like a charm.
BouncingRadicalParticipantAs a way to practice and get a feel for downshifting it might now be a bad idea to go up and down a straight street. Shift all the way up then start your way back down with out using the brake and see how it ‘brakes’ on its own.
BouncingRadicalParticipantI just picked up a Protaper Contour handlebar and I have some moose hand guards in the mail. Next I was looking at a Nomad rack for long trails.
BouncingRadicalParticipantWhen I looked for a used 250cc I searched all local classifieds, craig’s and such and found three. I was unable to find a used one and ended up finding a badass deal on a new.
BouncingRadicalParticipantI agree with matt, in the fact that you get a good atleats 1000 miles under your belt before you try to go two up. I waited till about 1200 miles, and we spent a while don figure 8’s and locked turns while explaining how she needs to hold on tight and lean exactly as I lean. We have only done short runs though and only a few times. Take it slow.
BouncingRadicalParticipantSo it seems like it is everywhere. The only crash I’ve had I did not have my jacket yet, and boy did I wish I did! I don’t even think twice about putting it on. I can see what you mean, Elwood, by to alot of people it is a fashion statement. For me I just wanted to get in some mud! But it turned out I want to be on it all the time, I can’t get enough
BouncingRadicalParticipantAs a side note they have a spread sheet app that you can put your fill up gallons and your miles between fill ups and you can keep a realtime look at your GPM and how your bike is performing. Somethin dumb I’ve been doin’ but the phone makes it easy.
BouncingRadicalParticipantI see what you are saying about the feel. I took it up and down my street in tennis shoes just to see the difference and I could feel it a ton better. Its not too bad with the boots though, I can still feel all the clicks and stuff.
BouncingRadicalParticipantMy worst ride so far was one warm day I rode out to the lab to do an hours worth of work. The work ended up taking well into the night, where the temperature had dropped 20F and it started raining. So totally ill equiped with thin gloves no liner in my jacket and a smoked visor I had to very carefully make my freezing and wet way home. Not nearly as bad as yours though heh.
BouncingRadicalParticipantThanks man, I believe its the 2nd reason as it started on a really misty day and continued for a while. But like a bad tooth once you go to the dentist it stops hurting and it stopped yesterday. The film of rust must have been worked out. Thanks a ton munch, sorry to bring up mechanical issues heh.
BouncingRadicalParticipantAll the apps are on the android market, which you can only access through the phone as far as I know, and there are tons of homebrew apps, some are awesome while some its like some 12 yr old wrote heh. If you already use google calendar then your phone will sync with it so you can add stuff from either and it will show up on both your phone and on the internet. The sound quality is good I’ve found, its better than my last phone for sure! Comes with a head set for phone calls too.
You can see the top 100 apps here, but they don’t have a description and most names don’t really tell you what the app does heh. http://atrackdog.a0soft.com/index.php?view=weekly
edit: Oh and all the apps are free pretty much
BouncingRadicalParticipantI love it, it comes with a good calendar and for a todo list there are a ton of different ones on the market that are free and really good. I personally use the AK notebook app for my todo lists. The full keyboard that slides out is really good, I never liked the screen touch keyboard of the iphone all that much. I’ve posted several posts on here from my phone actually. Also if you are integrated with google, like gmail and such it just gets much better because the phone integrates with all your google apps.
BouncingRadicalParticipantI drive a green Kawasaki KLX250s. Its fun in the mud as well as on the road. I love it. Almost to light for high speed road travel though.
BouncingRadicalParticipantI just wear my steel toe work boots. Made rugged and not expensive. To me they are quite comfortable to walk around in anywhere, and they don’t look weird. Except maybe for the fact they are different colors because I stepped in some caustic soda at the plant one day heh. They are as safe as any racing shoe I’d say, thick leather and they cover your heel. Shift fine in them and have excellent communication to my bike wearing them.
BouncingRadicalParticipantI wouldn’t make your first ride the ride from the dealership. I used my brothers truck at first to pick it up. The dealer should have a ramp there and tie downs are cheap from places like autozone. I found it comfortable to have my first several rides in the neighborhood I grew up in. As I got more comfortable I was able to putter around back roads in the city.
