The butt test is happening for sure, I wouldn’t help her get a bike sight unseen. It’s just that there are few bikes for short people and I was fishing for suggestions, various types that would fit her, its not like the Buell is the one or anything. Thanks for the suggestions so far, though, gives more options to put her cute butt on.

I didn’t mean to start the eternal debate between cruisers and sport bikes though. :P But any purest would know dual sport is the only way to go xD Just joking!

I went with the klx250 for my first bike, and I love the freedom the dual sport gives. The DRZ-400 is an awesome bike as well, and will give you more power to play with once your comfortable on a bike.

“Use a skull cap / face cover and soak it in water. Aside from keeping you cool it also helps keep your helmet from smelling like a jock strap since you can wash it unlike your helmet liner.”

I am going to have to try that, my helmet has been having to get a regular febreezing since it has been getting hot here.

When I shopped around, I found bike dealers are not willing to play ball very much. They stop it short saying ‘this is what its selling for, take it or leave it’. So I left them. I dunno why most of them won’t haggle, only a few did, but once you find the ones you should be able to get a good deal. Also ask what the out the door price is, they like to forget to tell you they are gunna charge you an extra 100 bucks from when the put it together, 50 bucks for this, 42 for that, etc. You can sometimes get them to drop some of them cuz most of them are B.S. anyway.

    KLX250s

    Likes
    1) Finding offroad shortcuts around traffic in the city. Have to be careful though I got caught once, but that’s part of the adventure.
    2) I like being able to do all the maintenance and mods myself. I like getting my hands dirty.
    3) 70 mpg is awesome, but the range…

    Dislikes
    1) The tank is only 2.1 gallons, so for all the good MPG you are still only getting 140 miles.
    2) 2 hrs in the saddle and your ass is screaming for you to get off. Might need to look into an aftermarket seat.

When reading a post, a link back to the board the post was on, not back to the beginning of the board list.

I just got my back after a little over a 2 week shop visit. I feel ya chaiya, every time I saw someone riding, which was a ton because the weather is unusually awesome right now, I wanted to be out there so bad instead of in my truck. It made me a saaad panda.

I have a smaller dual sport (250cc) and its great in the city, and a buddy at the building has a DRZ and he has no complaints. As for long distance (3hr+), I would get a softer seat for sure, after a few hours your butt will thank you. As for the way you sit, its quite comfortable, you can slide back and lean if you want or sit up straight. I put a higher bend fatbar on it so I can also stand when doing trail riding. You could put some motard tires on it too (like the KLR 650), if you are doing mostly city driving and you could take corners like a champ.

Here is a little list of 5 popular dual-sports. It has reviews and specs along with it. If I had to chose again, and had just a little bit more money, I would have gone with the DRZ-400 for sure. Perfect for the end of the world IMO.

I bought a bright ass jacket, and I have noticed a big decrease in people pulling out in front of me. So visibility is key. But if they aren’t looking anyway how does that help? heh. I had one woman pull out in front of me and I had to lock up to avoid being broadsided. Course I got looked like it was all my fault she almost killed me. How dare I be in the way of a woman in an SUV on her cell phone!

I am about your size, 6.0 and 150, and I went with a dual sport. The DRZ-400 and the KLX250s both fit well and keep me stretched out. Shifting is real forgiving too on the KLX, if you pop it into 2nd, unless you are leaning way back, you won’t wheelie yourself on accident. It won’t have the top end as a 250 ninja, but it will get up and go, with plenty of gear to wind out with.
