BouncingRadicalParticipant
My choke is kind of like that too. I have no half way setting, its either all the way on or its off, unless I hold my hand under there holding it about halfway to get that intermediate warm up.
BouncingRadicalParticipantIt took ten minutes cause I let it sit for a bit, I thought I had flooded it.
BouncingRadicalParticipantThanks for the help, I had always wondered why it stuttered a little bit right when I first got on the road. Now I know! As for warming it up I have always started it then geared up and road checked the bike. Then I sat on it till the the line stopped moving right under 2k RPM. I guess I need to wait just a little bit longer,
BouncingRadicalParticipantI was putting my bike into the back of my truck after getting my endorsement, so I was still a little nervous after taking my tests. I hit the ramp at a little bit of an angle and when I gave it too much gas the ass end swipped to the side and my bike skid into my bed, which threw me over the side of the bed and skid along the ground a bit. It damaged my plastic sidings but other than that the bike is ok. I hurt my elbow a little, and really shook my confidence, it also really hurt my pride as I was in public heh.
To overcome my fear and to ensure I don’t doubt myself next time I put my bike in the bed, when I got home I put it in and out of the bed three or so times to show myself I could do it, and the slip up was a fluke of nerves and not hitting the ramp perfectly straight. I put it in perfectly all three times.
So as many before me said, practice makes perfect and builds confidence.
BouncingRadicalParticipantYeah I took it in Louisiana, the funny/sad thing is this DMV had the harder riding tests. Most places make you do a circle of the lot and thats it. Is it any wonder this state is #1 in motorcycle deaths?
BouncingRadicalParticipantWhen I took mine it was in the parking lot of the DMV and rode around the lot then had to go to a corner and do 2 figure eights, it was really small and I had to go extremely slow, I’m really glad my bike is small. I’m sure there is no way its harder than the MSF stuff. I haven’t taken the class yet, I just went and winged it to get my endorsement so I could get insurance on my bike, and the dumbass state has not posted their 2009 dates for the class!
BouncingRadicalParticipantThat’s a brutal lookin bike! The punisher icon is awesome.
BouncingRadicalParticipantMotoman’s method is the one I refered to in the first post. His is very different from any I’ve seen, just run it hard to get the better seal from the seals. I dunno I will probably just stick to the manf method and heat cycles. I will change the oil earlier though I don’t understand why the manf wants you to go 600mi with metal shavings in the oil.
I just made 100mi today though woo! 1/5 of the way to halfway haha. I love the bike, its fantastic.
BouncingRadicalParticipantYeah, I’d rather keep my warranty than drive faster sooner! I’ll probably just change my oil sooner I don’t want metal bits banging around for 600mi. Thanks for the advice
BouncingRadicalParticipantI purchased a bike today. I selected an ’09 KLX250S. I am picking it up tomorrow and am so excited I probably won’t sleep!
BouncingRadicalParticipantI went looking around the other day at the dealerships here and the surrounding cities. Your suggestions where helpful, but it seems there was only one used bike heh. Also wierdly it was not at all like a car dealership where people swoop down on you, it was the opposite, the first two noone even talked to us, while the other 2 where very helpful. I’m thinking of going to mississippi to see what they have as I am in no rush since the next class to get my motorcycle sponorship is not for quite a while. If i select one sooner I will just have to keep it to the dirt. Again thanks for ya’lls help!
BouncingRadicalParticipantThanks for the welcome ya’ll!
