“stealerships”. Amen to that.
bob250ParticipantJust curious where a bike should be stopped, left, right or middle of the lane? I always stop in the left hand part of the lane in case I have to get over quickly. Plus, being directly in front of the drivers side I figure they have a better chance to see me. I also have a modulating brake light because of clips like this. From the vid, it looks like the guy on the bike at the last second tried to jump off the bike. Hope he is alright and the asshole driving the truck gets what he deserves.
bob250ParticipantGood to hear you like your Rebel and survived your near miss. Nothing gets the old heart pumping like some asshole driver almost hitting you.
bob250ParticipantGreat post, great info. gj
bob250ParticipantI always lock the bars. I guess it makes it that much more difficult for someone to take off with the bike.
bob250ParticipantDid your Vulcan make a whistling sound every now and again? My 08 Ninja does and I think it has to do with the same vent hole you mentioned. I am not a mechanic (anymore) but it sounds like it may be the carbs or maybe bad gas. Just a guess. Glad to hear you made it out of that traffic in one peice. Hope you get Ginny back running like a top and let us know what the dealership finds out.
bob250ParticipantWhat is this “winter” and “riding season” you speak of? Does this “winter” involve, how you say, snow? LOL Just kidding. I’ve seen snow one time in 15 years here in NW FL and some folks ride year round here. Hope you have a mild winter and can get some ride time in.
bob250ParticipantI took my MSF on a Rebel and the only way I could get it in nuetral was to give it some gas while shifting up from first or down from second. The instructor said the Rebel could be tempermental in that way but I would get it checked out.
bob250ParticipantWish him luck and pray for him.
bob250ParticipantIt’s cool Ranette. It’s kinda nice to be reminded every once and while on the safe way to ride.
bob250ParticipantI should have said I put it nuetral when there is no one behind me. When there is traffic behind me when stopped I almost always stay in first gear. After riding in town for awhile my hand gets tired and keeping the clutch lever pulled in at a long light just sucks. Maybe if someone made an automatic transmission for a bike….
bob250ParticipantUpshifting I do Quick clutch release/roll on throttle. Downshifting I will vary. Sometimes engine braking, sometimes just coat in gear then shift down to first then to nuetral so I can play drums on my tank.

I wonder what demographic they are going to market that thing to. The Aprila looks nice but the automatic tranny I don’t know. I mean, how many Hondamatics are still on the road?
bob250ParticipantSo what bike ya lookin at? I used to live in Conn. and miss the fall up there. Beautiful places to ride up there but I’ll take no snow and no cold anyday if good ol Florida. Anyway welcome to BBM.
bob250ParticipantWhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? I suppose you’re going to say Family Guy is crap too.
