Well, my bike desperately needs a new rear tire and by the time I can swing that kind of cash winter will have begun. I’m just going to store it away for the winter and when the next riding season begins I’m going to take it in for a new rear tire (Michelin Pilot Road2), new chain and sprockets, new brakes, and oil change. Probably a suspension setup too. Until then, back to riding the old Port Authority bus.
Anything else I should consider having done to it when I take it in post-winter? It’ll be my first time taking it to the shop since it became mine.

I’ve seen snow one time in 15 years here in NW FL and some folks ride year round here. Hope you have a mild winter and can get some ride time in.

October 7, 2008 at 4:43 pm #13474ilnamParticipantwere you doing burn outs?
October 7, 2008 at 4:51 pm #13478megaspazParticipantmost likely suspension not dialed in for his body type. unfortunately for sv’s pre-2007, the stock suspension and damping isn’t that good at all. it’s better on post-2007 models, but still not that good and still not a whole lot you can do to it. improper suspension can cause tires to wear quicker.

October 7, 2008 at 4:54 pm #13480megaspazParticipantoh. very nice. you should be able to play with that rear suspension quite a bit. When you change your tire, get your suspension dialed in. It should only cost you about 40 bucks max (that’s the price out here in cali).

October 7, 2008 at 5:01 pm #13482megaspazParticipantwhen you go to get your suspension setup, they should do both the front and rear. they might suggest going with gsx-r forks but play with whatever adjustments they make to the front for a while first, because replacing the front with gsx-r stuff is quite a bit more $$$.
