The point is the more you ride, the more you will become more in control of the bike, at least for most. I must say that size does matter in terms of power and weight, for it may determine how soon you wipe out or drop “her”. At MSF school, it seemed I was the only guy who started out on a 250. The sport bike crowd had nothing less than 750s. Beside me, the cruiser crowd boasted a Vulcan 900, and the other was a Honda VTX(1300). A couple of the big engine guys have had close calls and drops. None wish they started smaller. Interesting. In wisdom, I would suggest everyone before getting into biking, do research, and more research.
Motorcycles and Cars aren’t dangerous, for they don’t ride nor drive themselves. Do I wish I would have started bigger? I’m 50/50 at this point. Half of me says good thing I started out on a small bike, but the other 1/2 says I knew I could have handled a 750 if I would have went with my gut and got the Shadow Aero. Let’s just say when I got my 250 to now, I was really happy and now I ‘m just pleased. Pleased in a way that I will never sell “her” because she does me well. I may be looking for a new “girlfriend”, but I’ve already found a “wife”.

My 250 is awesome for street…Hyosung GV250 btw…riding, but very unsuitable for the CA freeways. That’s why I won’t upgrade to anything less than a 900cc, since 750 and under is still considered “beginner”. Moreover, upgrading from one beginner moto to the next seems expensive, and I’d like to buy an upgrade that feels adequate to quell the urge, a little longer, for the next fix……which will probably be a Harley Soft-tail Deluxe or a Touring Street Glide. I’ll never sell my 250, but the Yamaha V-Star I may get next will be up for trading when she out wares her welcome.

smokeizfireParticipant.. on the freeway twice and I didn’t like any more the second time, than I did the first. My bike has about 28hp and weighs a little over 400lbs wet. The weight and lack of power left me feeling very inadequate at any speed over 55mph. I think my next ride will be 900cc or better. If the Yamaha V-star 950 feels right when I sit on it, I’ll be posting it as my new toy……coming soon….maybe.

Not quite the Cadillac on 2 wheels like the Honda Goldwing. The stereo system on the Street Glide is nuts. A little over 800 lbs wet is a lot of weight under you.
Wow! Would you just look at the white walls on this one. The epitome of “old school” styling from the rooter to the tooter, at least in my opinion. This Harley sits lower than my 250, with a seat height of only 24.5 inches. Nothing short of a cruiser masterpiece.

Are you sure you are not planning an assassination? True. History has shown us that we are always fighting with ourselves. No matter how much intelligence The Creator has gifted us with above all creations, most of us will never look at our similarities. They will only see our differences. What makes any man dominant than another? Let alone a group of men, which today we call race. “Race”? I guess so named because we rely on our differences, one group “racing” to get ahead of the other.
You are paranoid. It sounds like you believe their is a conspiracy by Blacks to take over America, because of the possibility of a Black and White mixed individual becoming president. A man who was raised by all whites; went to school with all whites, and whose mother was on welfare as well. And for the record, technically he will be the first president of mixed heritage. Not the first African American president. He worked his way to his position just as Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, or any other you would like to name. Why was there no conspiracy when Jesse Jackson ran for president? He was 100% African American. Is it because he wasn’t in a position to almost win?
Which is more simplistic and ridiculous? My “ideal” of a better America for everyone, or your theory of “domination”? Yes, they are 2 extreme ideals. Only one 1 of the 2 I’d like to hope for. You have a right to your opinion, how sick it may be in my opinion. Thank God the America of today seem to have less people in it who succumb to paranoid racist ideals.such as yours. Here’s a little pun for your “Domination Theory”. It’s no fun when the rabbit gets the gun. K{= D)

smokeizfireParticipantbeing laid off, or a senior citizen having to come out of retirement to look for a job due to inflation. Have you been watching the Dow lately? I think things are pretty scary already. If African Americans in this country had a fair shot at opportunity from the 1st day George Washington took office, then I would have to agree with you on the “racially divisive” issue. I believe tagging any race of people as just a “color” such as white, black, brown, yellow, etc, is divisive. If we were all born in America, why aren’t we all considered just simply Americans? If you were born in Mexico, you are considered a Mexican. I believe being asked to reveal your race on a job application is racially divisive.
Unfortunately, racism is what this country was built on from the beginning. Lets be realistic, slavery was a reality in this country up until I think the late 1800s. ” Jim Crow” laws in the south didn’t end until the late 1960s. That means that particular history is recent enough to still have people living today that have lived through that horrible time in America. If you consider all of this and still feel there’s a divisiveness in that scenario you mentioned, then………..I don’t know what to say. If a company wants to give a “Black Achievement Award”, why the hell not? It’s America. I thought that’s what freedom was all about. Giving out a “Vertically Challenged Naked Award” if you wanted to.
