bummer, guess thats the downside to online shopping. do all alpinestars jackets run short or did i just get a goof?

i wouldnt consider myself tall at all (5’10”, 180lbs) so i dont think i should need a “tall” jacket, any thoughts?

i had a similar situation last week, just had the speedo cable come loose. i had no idea how it worked, so i took it back to the dealership… 2 twists of pliers later, i was good to go

Ive done a little riding on the freeway (<40mi, so not much) on my gs500f, and it's fine.. however I don't think I'd want anything less powerful (or worse, lighter) than that.

My knowledge is (very) limited, but IMO, I wouldn’t want a 250 if I was doing a lot of freeway riding.

Another thing tho, I currently live above 7000ft altitude, and everything with a motor likes to go faster at lower elevation. So maybe a 250 on the beach could outrun a 500 up in Flagstaff.

today got worse, riding around… the bike was fighting like it wanted to stall coming out of first gear. then i noticed the speedomteter, which was working earlier today, stopped working. finally, when i got back home, i noticed a cable was loose and dragging on the street. heres some pics of the cable

    thanks all,
ive kinda come to the conclusion that the centerstand is really too much of a hassle and the sidestand works just fine. im sure it will be useful some day tho

I took mine several months ago. all the classes were booked up for about 2 months except one opening for a class that was all the way up in san bernardino. it was worth the 1 1/2 hour drive there and back (and there and back)

if anyone is looking around and not seeing any available classes, keep looking. people drop out and an opening will show up

I live in CA but go to college in AZ. In CA theres required helmets for all riders and passengers, but in AZ (im pretty sure) there is absolutely no helmet law. I see a lot of the local cruiser types riding around with no helmet all the time, and a couple of students commuting around campus not wearing helmets.

but like its been said in previous posts, whether theres a helmet or not, its definitely a good idea to wear one

my gs500f is still in the break in process, so i try and keep the rpms low. im guesstimating agreeing with the 55ish mpg. not sure how high that mpg is gonna stay when the throttle gets opened up more frequently

I have a disc lock, and i can turn the key back an extra click to lock the handlebars… i think thats enough security. the fact that I park in a motorcycle area with an r1, an r6, and some big suzuki cruiser, i think that adds a little security to my gs500.

like megaspaz said, no security can be 100% safe, so id say the best security is comprehensive insurance

Well a bike is all i can afford (getting it this thursday!!) and I plan on that being my main transportation.

ill be able to ride up to winter break probably, and then during winter break (home in so cal) but when i head back up to flagstaff for spring semester, riding will be VERY limited. (it snows, but not everyday)

obviously not riding in the snow, but if the roads are clear, im riding to class/work… im getting chilly just thinking about it
