nau_lax21Participant
I plan on making the trip 4-6 times a year, so not to often.
I didn’t even think of me on the trip, I guess that’s something to think about. And I can take small highways for a good chunk of the trip.
Thanks for the advice all.
nau_lax21Participantwell i just got a quote if 4300 from the dealer closest to campus, so looks like i wont be buying a bike til i get back to az in about a month.
nau_lax21ParticipantYea the dealership was Temecula Motorsports in CA. I go to college in Arizona. Should I just wait til I get to school to buy the bike there, or will other CA dealerships be a lot cheaper?
I know it is common that for a new car registration and fees and all that usually add up to around 10% of the cost of the car, is this not the same for bikes?
Well I definately told the guy I wasn’t paying 5300 for a bike with an MSRP of 3500.
Has anyone on here bought a 250R in southern california? and what did you pay?
nau_lax21Participantim not sure about whether or not its good for the transmission to downshift multiple gears without letting up on the clutch to go to the gear… but id rather have a damaged transmission than a damaged body. seeing as a bike has the capability of stopping quicker than a car, its probably a good idea to downshift to 1st (or at least 2nd) so you can get going as soon as you stop enough to avoid whatever caused the emergency stop.
nau_lax21Participantacutally, now that i think about it a little. if people see black gear and white helmet, im betting that a good number of people who glance in their mirror are gonna think youre a cop. of course cops dont ride street bikes and their bikes arent black either. but at least when i see anything black and white in the mirror i check my speed and keep an eye on them. of course when i get close people will realize i am definitely not a police officer, but im thinking that people might pay a little more attention to a rider in black and white.
what do you guys think?
nau_lax21Participantthanks everyone! im really liking the idea of that mil-spec vest to go over the jacket for night riding.. and maybe all black gear except go for a white helmet with some reflectiveness
