make sure its at a 1 tooth increment. It seems minute at the pivoting point but by the time the change has gone the full distance of the lever it can be rather dramatic.

Bingo. Actually I am getting to prefer being on the bike rather then my cage in non lightning producing rain. The tires are more like pizza cutters and handles water like nobodies business. But lean to much and increasing the contact patch you turn that pizza cutter into a car tire like action which can induce hydroplaning. And yes sudden throttle or quick braking will urn quickly into skid, slippage, O Chitness!

I agree , if it had been normal business (or after business) hours I would have been alot more paranoid. However around here at near 11 at night…. the roads are near deserted except shift workers. Most of them were going in the opposite direction I was …which means headlights coming my way. Thankfully theres a huge divider between them and me to keep them from wandering to my side and making it a more worrisome thing.

Yea I use a chemical called AquaPel on my visor for my helmet. Its like Rain-x on steroids. Only problem with those 2 is that it requires air flow to push the water off the surface. I haven’t treated my windshield yet which I really need to do. As for the visor though, that windshield does its job really well as far as deflecting the wind up and around the rider. Unfortunately rain is heavier then wind and can go right in between the windshield and me and hit my visor. Will try and remember to treat my windshield today though.

If you don’t mind cruisers a smaller 250 or even 500 cc cruiser style bike might would be good for you. Smooth and even power delivery and usually a low seat height. It will give you the ability to get the experience under your belt without an over sensitive fear of gun and run and hoping your brain can catch up to you . Look over some of the other guys posts for the sport bike side of things.
Personally for cruisers I would recommend the Vulcan 500 more to do with my experience. It is a shorter in length motorcycle which will give you sport bike like agility in low speed maneuvers. It also utilizes the same 500 cc motor the Ninja uses. Only a slightly different set up for the cruiser ride. You will have plenty of ooomph to conquer the super slabs and doesn’t get pushed around by traffic cross winds easily. Its top speed is 100 though you will never need it. It easily has get up go for lane changing and passing when you need it. I got around 45 – 51 mpg depending on my mood.
As a first…er …second first bike it would do well for you.

Howdy! Welcome to the site. Glad to here you got to get back on. Fortunately my riding season is really only limited to my tolerance. I ride as long as there is no frozen stuff.
Good to see new names on here.

not bad my man…not bad. The one I painted was actually a G-max… 48 something or other. No flashy lights but plenty ventilation. Am envious of that drop down shade though. Oh well…. maybe in the next couple of years.

That would depend on affordability, guaranteed accuracy, your mechanical knowledge- or your buddies. What can seem simple could lead to more difficulties. Personally I would check to see if its a possible easy fix. If not then look into replacement.

About the same as riding in your car. You have to be more cautious for blind turns though. Other then that just watch your throttle on the way down so you don’t blow past the LEO.

possible just the “arm” that the needle pivots on is either stripped on the gear that rotates it …. when you have time take the face of the speedo off and inspect. BE VERY GENTLE.

Grats. Wish I had written down the mileage on the V500 before I traded it in…. got 700+ on the 900 …. so…. well darn…. grats anyway!

nah , I see it alot here too. Alot of it is the “old schoolers” thinking it’s a wuss thing, and the easily pressured follow suit to look less wuss like. I can’t promise I wear full gear all the time especially in extreme hot weather, but a heck of a lot more then not.
I always see the kids in the t-shirts that are blowing half up their backs and shake my head…. I sincerely hate it for them should disaster ever befall them. Heck I can remember coming fresh out of MSF grad day and watch a 300lbs+ guy pull up into the dealership on a full dress HD sporting Flip flops.
To each their own, you choose your path, if it ends badly you have only yourself to blame.
