meh… if you’re talking about jacket materials on a day that’s 90+F, everything sucks. You’re gonna sweat no matter what, so why go with a 1 crash only kind of jacket (tex and mesh)? A good Dainese perforated leather jacket with a moisture wicking running shirt underneath has been the best thing out of all the materials i’ve worn during the summer. If you still insist on going with the regular “street” wear, get an upper and lower body armored undersuit and get some of them draggin’ clothes suggested above. they’re better than nothing i guess. but that’s just my opinion on things… *shrugs*

between those 2 bikes, the 650r. Again, i’d probably recommend the sv650sf over the 650r only because it’s been around longer and aftermarket parts are a breeze to find.

it doesn’t take much to crack fairings, but if you do a low speed drop (< 5mph) then chances are the most likely damage to your fairings will be scratches or small dents. You can always get fairing sliders to protect the plastics in these drops. If you're gonna bin your bike at speed, then anything goes. You could get away with only scratches or you could destroy your fairings. it's a luck of the draw in how your bike crashes. If it tumbles, say hello to replacing them. If you lowside the bike, then the sliders may keep your fairings intact... again depends of environmental factors. If the sliders get caught in the ground, it could cause the bike to tumble, the fairing slider to break off causing fairing rash, or get bent into the plastics causing a need to replace the fairings. If you bin it in gravel, fairing sliders ain't gonna protect against rocks flying up and scratching up the fairings. As far as my opinion goes, if you can get fairing sliders, than getting a naked bike or a bike with fairing is all a matter of preference. —

par for the course. The fun bit’s all in how you look at it. i don’t particularly think buying any kind of vehicle’s fun. The buying process kinda sucks. The fun’s when after you ride your bike off the lot. sales folk are mostly always gonna try to get you on the most expensive bike they can. You know learning on the smallest, most comfortable bike will be easier and fun no matter which way you slice the bologna, so suck it up and just get it despite what anyone else tells you.

practice learning your friction zone. forget about the throttle until you’re comfortable with the friction zone. just power walk. when you do start integrating the throttle, clutch out slowly and roll on the throttle slowly.

Personally, if the bike scares you that much, sell it and get something less scary.

I suppose it might be ok if you’re the typical girl size. It sucked when I had to do it after binning it. Not comfortable at all.

If you’re bro won’t go the speed you’re comfortable at, don’t ride with your bro. Plan a solo trip. If it takes about 8 hours to get there by car, plan on 9-10 hours for extra rests, gas, and eating. On long trips, map out all the rest stops along your route beforehand and plan to take more rest breaks. Your butt will thank you for the extra stops. ;-)

Driving/riding below the speed limit in good conditions, doesn’t fly around my parts… hell doing that in bad conditions doesn’t really fly around here either… :-/

You’ll get used to freeways in no time. They’re pretty boring when traffic’s moving. It gets slightly interesting when the flow’s stop and go or slow. Lane sharing/splitting’s the bomb.
