Participantclean bike!…the motorcycle, that is

ParticipantI wouldn’t consider a bike getting off where a car wouldn’t. In fact, I would expect that sport bikes typically get pulled over quite often, just like sports cars. Anything that CAN go fast, is usually perceived to be going fast…just because people who usually have fast vehicles are tempted to go fast. I have noticed that whenever I’m on a bike, I am going a lot faster than it feels. It’s up to the cop whether you were respecting your bikes wishes AND the law’s wishes in equal margins. I’m sure you’ll get used to the speed after more experience, and won’t have to look at the speedometer anymore.
Sounds like you are getting more comfortable with your bike tho, so congrats!

Participantthat is pretty wild. Man he is practically scraping every turn! He seem to have very good control and understanding about the limits of that scoot. Come on eon, you gotta one-up that vid…go off some ramps!

ParticipantA couple minutes?? Now that is focused patience Ben, especially for Cali. Ben, if you’re going to sit there for minutes on end, you might as well get off, walk over to the corner and push the pedestrian button.
But I suppose it’s a good thing that you wait, because as one member said on here:
“Don’t ever get on your bike if you have somewhere to be.”

Participant“May God have mercy on his soul.”
No.

ParticipantWell put eternal! I like how you totally put into perspective all the other dangerous things I do in my life. Maybe I’m increasing my chances…but maybe, just maybe, I’m just enjoying my life! Hmm, guess the haters never thought about that…

ParticipantHey, I bank with some company that rhymes with Mace…well, I’m glad that they care about my money as much as I do at least!
Plus, can’t beat those check deposits at ATM’s with the picture on the receipt…nice
Elias
Participantvery photogenic…seriously, damn good shot, damn nice ride. Be safe out there
Elias
ParticipantUghh, I remember getting pulled over a couple years back. Wasn’t speeding. Wasn’t wreckless. Didn’t run anything. I simply had white turn signals. Give me a F-…ok. Yeah there are some laws that might prohibit you from doing what you want to do to your bike. Didn’t know about the two different signal heights law. Wow, they are scrounging the bottom of the well aren’t they?! Oink oink oink all the way home…luckily most officers will be real about how ridiculous some of these laws are, and give you a fix-it-ticket

Participantagreed…
But i’ve done the frustrating left turn when ignored by the light too…in a cage. I understand both sides, depends on your night I suppose…

ParticipantI am in your same situation, and it’s an interesting one. For instance, my mom is scared shitless about me getting a bike. I don’t usually curse on the forums, but she is THAT scared. On the other hand, her brother just bought a bike, and she is super excited for him, not even worried about him wrecking. This is due to two reasons:
1. He learned to ride when he was younger, and is just now getting back into the sport.
2. Her brother has lived passed 50 already, and I’m only 24. She thinks I have plenty to live for (which I do)First of all, the first reason contradicts herself. How am I suppose to learn, and be a safe rider (like she thinks her brother is) if she doesn’t let me ever start riding? The second reason is a good and reasonable one. It is around reason number two that every motorcycle rider must accept the risk involved with riding, and decide to do it anyway or give up on it, no matter what age you are.
Your family is worried about you. IMHO, I don’t care what people label you or me. Call me a punk, I’ll embrace it. Hell, I’m sure I look like one. Bandana, leathers, black gear…yeah I dress the part. IDC, what’s wrong with being the radical one? Driving a bike IS RADICAL!
You could drive a safer cage, but you don’t want to…for a reason…motorcycling is FUN. When I found the contradictions in my families arguments, I went Socrates on their ass, and explained that they are blindly labeling every motorcyclist a suicidal maniac. They need to open their eyes and stop stereotyping. And after pointing it out, they have gotten more comfortable with the fact, but not the idea.
It will grow on them, just as it will on me.

Participantlol, ransak…we can tell you how it works in individual states all day…well at least 50 threads worth…but you’re easiest route is to call your local MSF. They will give you a direct and accurate answer in two seconds

Participant“man I hope the dude at the 3:48ish mark pulled it together…”
NOPE!…it’s actually a pretty famous tank slapper…check it:

ParticipantSad, isn’t it eternal?! Ha, yeah, well I’ve been waiting on my first paycheck from my new job (HR has been sleeping at the wheel). Anyways, I should be getting a good chunk of change this week! I’m planning on buying outright with cash, because I don’t need another monthly bill. It’s been a long long wait for me (over ten years)…so another couple months is nothing for me at this point
and I am so excited about it! The first thing I will do (after I ride it) is post pics on BBM! I love this forum!
Oh, and she’ll be black…
