ParticipantYeaahhhhh buddy! Waddup eternal?
Watch the weather guys, crazy stuff happening all over. Even here in the wild west, there is wind sheer like you wouldn’t believe.
Elias
ParticipantYa, like any advice, not all this is going to apply to everyone, everywhere. Your mileage may vary.
Ranette, I recommend not getting a receipt at the gas station because I ride in full gear all year long, and I assume most safe riders do. When I’m in full gear, taking a receipt out of the machine and finding a place to unzip/velcro/stuff it (with my gloves on) is a pain. Especially when it’s 110 F outside or more, seconds of immobility are worth a lot to me. My tool kit is under the pillion, so it’s a snap to access. Everyone is entitled to use their own system, that’s just what works for me.
Eon, good to see you are still around the forum. Good point on the sunglasses. I suppose I didn’t consider that because I wear prescription glasses already, so I’ve never had that option. As for the rain, my bike (electronics) and my gear (leather) HATES water. Nobody wears rain gear in AZ!

ParticipantThanks briderdt, these are great links! I will be sure to use these for some inspiration during my project!

ParticipantI found the guy who owns this bike. They are custom (figured). I’m going to take the plunge and build it, so you better find a damn good ski mask and some quiet ass moccasins, cuz if I catch you snooping around my bike….booyyyy
Elias
ParticipantWhat were the repairs on your SV and how much/how long was it? Any mechanic problems arise? Just trying to get an idea what I should be looking for on my SV after the crash.
Elias
ParticipantDidn’t mean to give you the impression that I take crashing lightly. Don’t take my reaction toward my own crash and assume it is how I handle every crash. I take crashes very seriously, obsessing about why that rider went down, how to avoid it myself, etc…would it have been ‘less-so’ disturbing if I came out of the crash cursing and yelling about how bad this sucks and how much it’s going to cost to repair my bike? Nah, no pity parties for me, I learned a long time ago that things like this are usually blessings in disguise…that’s why I am pleased with my crash: no permanent damage, and it will force me to work on my bike (which is something I wouldn’t have otherwise done, but wanted to do…i just know my habits).
On another note, this thread is a good reminder to all riders to never let your game down. Stay safe everyone, and don’t outride your personal limits. Feeling mentally uncomfortable is a red flag, pull over or turn around.

ParticipantIt’s pretty amazing actually, my gear wasn’t even scratched. I had some blemishes on my Dainese jacket, but my helmet, gloves and kevlar jeans didn’t even get a scratch! Figures though, that after spending $1k on gear, I don’t buy riding boots and that’s what gets hit. Ah well, I deserved it!
It’s funny you say those BMW F800 GS headlights are badass. I was looking at either that one or the Ducati Streetfighter headlights.
I love the look of the compact but angular look of both these headlights. The only thing I am worried about is the problems I can’t see. I wonder what I should be looking for mechanically after a crash.
Anyways, it’s going to be a helluvan experience doing this transformation with my bike. I will keep BBM in the loop.
Elias
Participantand to you sir, I hold up another dose of percocet!
Elias
ParticipantI love how you and me both post on BBM within 30 minutes of eachother about our first fall
Very similar accidents actually! Don’t let it get you down, just be glad you are ok, and start thinking of all the cool things you can do to fix her up again!
Elias
ParticipantTake a look at this guys whip…and a real good look at what’s on the end of it
That’s right up your alley!

ParticipantBIG +1

ParticipantMy friend who has been riding for 17 years had a Ninja 600 4 years ago. He sold it for a 250 enduro and rode that for years. He just recently (yesterday) moved back up to a 696 (yes, a duck). My point is that speed & power isn’t usually a huge deal when you just enjoy riding in general. Every bike is going to be fast and fun, so I say don’t tempt yourself with other bikes until you are (as you put it) completely bored with your 250. Getting a 600+ hopefully won’t change your riding habits or speed, so why worry about how much power it has.
Elias
ParticipantIt should be fine if it’s the manufacturer warranty. I believe it’s the extended warranties that require documentation when it is transferred. I would take it in and ask them to verify the warranty before they do any work.
Elias
ParticipantSorry about the absence, you were spot on when you guessed that I was just out having too much fun!
I love my SV650, and I’ve been having a royal blast on her. Already logged 400 miles in the saddle!
I’ll try to catch up on your threads soon!
Elias
ParticipantWTF Ben, I’ll be in Boise and then McCall on the weekend of Aug 21…
