Man as someone else said…if I were to do something like that as a kid id get 2 beatings from the car/bike rider and from my parents..and I would have DESERVED it too! Id put a Bill in his mailbox or actually talk to him..id fully expect not to be paid but id let him know that you expect reimbursement ….$$$ seems to make it pretty sure there will be no next time…BTW glad you are ok and glad I dont have neighbors like that.
CBennettParticipantjerk(the guy in the Jetta)hate them!
CBennettParticipantDo you think that was because it may have been a “course owned” bike being beaten on by noobs or have you heard/seen the same from others on this bike also? I also prefer the nighthawk but since new is not a option ive NEVER seen a used one localy.
CBennettParticipantReasons? I mean some give reasons being such foolish stuff as it wont go 80 mph . Or was it general build and or well…what made you think that? I want to see if the reasons you may list are something I would be concerned about. I had not really thought much about it either till recently to be honest.
CBennettParticipantIf I can get a 500 Ninja,Vulcan,or GS 500( E or F) I probably will never upgrade..why would I need to? they will go the speed limit and give me decent MPG. Heck if I get a 250 Ninja, nighthawk,or Rebel and find it will do 65-70 MPH just fine im golden..thoes are the typical highway speeds everywhere I ride and they will get good MPG. So to be honest if I can get something that i find decent at 65-70 MPH(and more like 65 to be honest) and it gets good MPG Im good with that.
CBennettParticipantive seen a Katana 600 localy for $1300 but isnt that gonna be a bit much to “learn” on, im not trying to kill myself I think it was a 92-93 or such.
I mean ive been looking at a LOT of possibilities that I never even knew about cause I was not a bike guy and they are discontinued or hard to find.. or ive seen them advertised but ha NO idea what they actually were….Let me know what you guys think of some of the following also. Bandit 400, Seca II, ZR 550 Zephyr,Monster 620,BMW F650CS…I think that pretty much keeps the weight under 400 pounds and the HP under 65 or so? and most are mid 90’s models or there abouts and ive seen them on places like Cycle trader for in my price range. Id add the Honda Hawk GT but they are going for $3000+ in decent condition.
CBennettParticipantwell, if you can send me the diffeence I will give you my address so your right. I dont have a lot of $$ to spend and it limits me but thats what you face when you have
1. 2 cars with payments
2. A old Muscle Car that sometimes needs stuff
3. Kids= not a lot of extra $$$ left for a bike. I may end up having to wait 2-3 years till we get one of the cars paid off to get one…but id rather be learning on a cheapie till then instead of just doing nothing
CBennettParticipantMan whats going on here all I can find anywhere localy is Cruiser type bikes(that im really not into) and bigger sports bikes..the closest thing in my price range is a 1993(i think) Katana for $1300..thats it though..at this rate I may not get a bike lol. And to be honest if id not have seen this site first I may have bought the Katana.
CBennettParticipantyup, I sat on my brother in laws GSX 600R just to see if I liked the seating position(BTW i HATED it ) but the one thing I did not like was the weight. I was like wholy cow thats heavy lol. So im thinking a 250 or hopefully a 500 for me. and something in a sporty looking bike but that does not “lay down/hunch over” so far as a GSX.
CBennettParticipantseems like a lot to me..what takes a extra almost $2000 that they have to do?
CBennettParticipantYeah, I was going to..guess what im trying to figure out is what they are all generally worth..I mean Dealers “seem” to be higher priced and $2400 and $2000 for a 05 and 99 respectively are NOT that far off…so i guess what im asking is the $1900-2000 for a 99 high or is the $2400-2800 for a 05 low? I really do want to get a deal but I dont want to go slap a guy in the face with a offer thats way under market value…..I was thinking a 99 would be closer to $1200-1500 than $2000 I mean there IS a difference in 6 years in those bikes….I can afford the $1500 or less I cant swing $2500+ ATM..maybe in a year or 2 but not now.
July 21, 2008 at 10:34 pm in reply to: New guy from Alabama. Looking for a solid beginner bike. #9060CBennettParticipantMan, I REALLY want a GS 500 E but i cant find one anywhere(localy) so I think I may also end up with a Ninja being as im also looking for something for a new rider thats CHEAP
CBennettParticipanti thought i was logged in, that was my question BTW.
CBennettParticipantProbably cause a lot of people just dont know…this thread is the first time I even knew there was such a thing..im sure a lot of beginning bikers are in the same boat. And when I ever get a bike(just dont honestly have the $$$ for one) I will probably be a fair weather rider lol
CBennettParticipantyes, i believe it has been out a while you can definnately get used for about 1/2 the price listed or less..ive seen them in the $2100-3000 range regularly for used ones.
just as a example
