guys, you all are rigt, I need to relax. I was so tensed that my shoulders were hurting too. I hate failing esp when I want to do something and get it right. Every time I get in my truck I try to act as though I’m starting up my bike (FINE-C) and when I’m slowing down or speeding up I try to act as if I’m on the bike (I’m trying my best to get it through my thick head on what to do). I will make mental notes of all the helpful posts and hope for the best for weds class. My instructor is really nice,he says that he’s mean but i don’t think he is. Every time he says good job, I mess up! =( I’m so weird =( One more question, when I’m shifting gears, am I to slow down, clutch/shift or keep the speed and squeze in the clutch then shift up? Thank you again guys…..

for making me feel better. I’m sorry I was being a big baby about the situation, I was just pissed. I love this feeling that I’m having about riding and everytime I smile and say guess what i passed my permit test, I’m taking the class soon, that’s when they start with the mess! And I’ll tell them why i want to start small and they act like i said I want to ride backwards on the bike. You’re right, I shouldn’t let then get to me. Thank you sooooo much guys for your support, I feel blessed to have yens(yes I’m from Pittsburgh = ) and we say yens) guys. So no more pouting from me. I’m going to attend class on the 1st and be happy! I just won’t talk to them anymore about my bike. Big hugs to all of you. = )

you’re so right. I really appreciate you taking the time to post. I know you may be thinking that you’re posting for yourself (and I don’t mean that in a bad way) but your experience is helping ppl like myself. Maybe this was the “wake up” call that you needed and now you’re able to have the respect and maturity to be a better, safer rider. I hope that through you and this website that I’ll be ok. Big hugs to you Brian. I hope you have many, many, many more good Saturday rides! = )

Brian, I’m happy to hear that you’re doing much better. I’m kind of seeing the “road” through you, if that makes sense. I’m scared too and the funny part is I haven’t rode yet. I guess from seeing youtube videos and being a paramedic(I’ve seen a few things from my co workers taking pictures) that I’m nervous. I lack the confidenace that I hope I will gain once I take the class. I guess I’m afraid of the what if’s. You have a nice frd. I hope I will meet a rider frd like yours because the frds who rides now all ride fast and I’m not ready for that.

I passed guys! Wheewww! I thought I was going to get a tricky test like yesterday but today’s test was very easy (even though I got 3 wrong). It was much better than yesterday’s test. I feel like a child in a candy store even though this is just the beginning ….. Thank you ilnam and Budd for not being smart a$$es *LOL* You’re right ilnam, I was like what the heck??? I’m kind of happy that MSP now requires that you have your permit before attending the class; because back in 2004 I just had to give them $10 and they gave me the permit as long as I had my driver’s license. I feel like I know a little bit more now than before and think I will pass the course. And of course thanks to this site. I’m registered as an alternative but I’m going to go to the Oct 1 class and ask if I can attend (the website stated that walk in’s are welcome because sometimes ppl who registered don’t show). Class starts at 6pm, I’m going to be there by 5:15 just in case the instructor say yes. Do you think alot of ppl are still AS interested even though it’s Oct to attend the class? I was going to wait until next year to attend the class but I’m so excited that I don’t want to wait. The website encourage ppl to register for other classes if they want to refresh their skills. If …no, when I pass (positive thinking- positive thinking) I think I will registered again just to refresh what I’ve learned before I get on a bike. I feel like doing the running man =) Go B Go B!!! =) aaaw get it girl. WZ, here I come babe, ok I’m moving in slow motion but I’ll be there soon. *LOL* and thanks Z for your advice. I called the kawa store yesterday and he said that no dealer in town has any 2008 or 2009 250r and that they have to put an order in for the 2009 and if i want one that I need to come in, pick my color, and deposit 100 bucks. I want a red one. Should I wait until the shipment comes before I do anything? Should I consider new or used? I really like the 08-09 a lot. I haven’t sat on a bike since the 2004 class so I don’t remember much. I looked on ebay and craigslist and the used 08’s are running about 3300-3600. And the 09’s are 4k. So what should I consider when the time comes? Do you think the prices will go down a little in the winter time?

Brian, I turned 30…..I mean 25 =) in Aug and I almost let them talk me into considering a bigger bike. They look like so much fun and so sexy to see guys on them but at the end of the day the ppl who are suggesting bigger bikes to green riders are the ones who’ve been riding a lot longer than us, well most of them are. I had to tell my other co worker whose taller than me but a little smaller in size that the only person who’ll value my life is me. She got an 750, it’s really sexy but uh huh, I’m going to try either an 250 or 500. When I’m ready for a bigger bike I’ll get one, it’s not like they won’t be any when and if I’m ready. She said go bigger or go home. I said, well c ya! To heck with her! I think guys look sexy on bikes period (no mopeds) so if you went smaller you’ll still be sexy. = )

I went first thing this AM to take the permit test, I just knew I had it in the bag because I passed all the practice tests. Weeeelll, the practice test and the actual test was completely different. = ( I missed the darn test by 1! Sooo, I will be back tomorrow after my hair appt. Now I know what to expect on the test. I was kinda confused on some things like which gear would be the best gear???? I thought it was reflective gear! WRONG, it’s bright colors. I though it was both bright colors and reflective gear. Then it asked about parked cars, something about what’s more dangerous, I choose car door opening….WRONG! *LOL* And another one I was stumped on was what’s the best way to look ahead (something to that) I remember the one option was looking through the car window, taillights, and something else. I choose taillights *WRONG*. But when I looked in the book it did say to use the drivers headlights, so I don’t know why I got that one wrong. Oh and the first question was about alcohol, how many drinks are still in your system after x amount of time. WRONG! SO I looked that one up too. I’m going to take my little man for a walk later (my chi chi in the picture in his pet stroller) and while he’s running around the park I will read my booklet again. Tomorrow I will pass or I will punch that computer in throat! Shoot, I wish the guy who set up the test was able to give me a pass, he kept winking at me! *LOL*

WZ, if you try to leave me when I get my bike, I will punch you in the throat too and ask you who’s your momma, then I’ll have my chi chi bite your feet! =)

And you’re right Andrew (my little brother’s name is Drew), if they leave me then i need to ride with someone else.

Wow Brian, I’m glad (and please do no take this the wrong way) you posted this. The ppl on this forum are wonderful! I’m thankful I found this site before doing anything “stupid” (and I wasn’t directing that towards you). I have so many ppl telling me to get an 600 or 750 but the guys/gals here made me feel comfortable about wanting an 250 or 500. I love the ninja 250 2008-2009 model(I never rode one I’m taking about the look of it.) I’m working some overtime to get me one.

help, all of your input is more than wonderful. I’ve learned alot these past few days becuase of all of you. I’m sorry ilnam I didn’t mean to call your bike cute(big hug). WZ, ooooh I understand now. I was drooling when I was looking at the 2008-2009 250’s esp the red one. My co worker is getting a triump sprint something. It’s really nice but it cost 12k!
