ParticipantIt was for a while but then it broke. I need to get it back online. Unfortunately I just run this site in my spare time so things take a little longer then I want to.

ParticipantYeah when I first made the site I didn’t test on IE6 (Damn you microsoft!!!!) but hopefully in the new version of the website it won’t be a problem. Expect a new version in a couple months.

ParticipantThese are the general impressions of the ‘big four’
Honda – Generally pretty comfortable with a rock solid engine
Suzuki – Generally seen as some of the fastest motorcycles around, more of a ‘ricky racer’ type of bike.
Kawasaki – Generally seen as ugly, but kawasaki engines are pretty reliable. Also known for their dirt bikes.
Yamaha – Good bikes, but in my mind they are ‘poser’ bikes. Everyone and there mom wants a Yamaha r6. They are very high fashion.
If you want a bike that will last a long time I would go for either a Honda or a Kawasaki. Most bikes i’ve seen rarely get past 25k before they are crashed and totaled. The ones with the longer lives are usually sport touring bikes since those riders generally take less risks and ride for longer stretches. The most mileage I’ve seen on any bike personally was a friend who had a early 2000 Kawasaki Ninja 250 with 80,000+ miles on it. I don’t know if I would recommend that for everyone, but it speaks to the quality of kawasaki bikes.
If I were going to get 1 bike to last me for ages I would probably go with a Honda VFR or maybe a BMW. That being said a lot of bikes will last quite a while if you keep up with the maintenance.

Participant1988????!?!?!?
In general I try and stay clear of anything made over a decade ago. When you start getting older than the mid 90’s you have to start dealing with rust in the tank, damaged brake lines, rotten tires etc…. Usually bikes that old are more problems (and more expensive) then they are worth.
Go ahead and look at it, but if you really were planning on purchasing it I wouldn’t pay more than 800-900 for it, in fact I’d probably low ball the guy by offering 500 dollars cash and letting him ramp it up to my ideal price range.

ParticipantMy ex girlfriend had a RAV4 and it was a great car, although it was a little small.

Participant+1 on that advice.
When I crashed I was wearing full gear, but ironically my jacket came away unscathed. It was my gloves and my overpants which took the brunt of the damage. My gloves were so torn up I had to throw them away (and they were leather racing gloves!) but my hands were perfectly fine underneath. The overpants had a few holes in the knee but none of it tore through anti-abrasion material.

ParticipantWowzers! Your sister has quite the uninformed opinion about motorcycles. Next time she mentions harleys tell her that you aren’t trying to attract HER, you are trying to attract more intelligent girls
I’ve had my share of people with ignorant opinions about bikes, but most people are of the mindset that I shouldn’t ride a motorcycle at all because it is too dangerous. I don’t think I’ve met anyone in person who has told me my bike is too small (even when I had my GS500 this wasn’t the case). I guess I’ve just been lucky.

ParticipantIt was just some place where you could pull over. I saw it on the way up but I was going too quick to stop so I hit it on the way back. The cool thing was since I was chilling there a truck pulled over to make sure I was OK. He must have been a fellow rider or something.
