From San Jose to Carson City!!!

A couple weeks ago I decided to go on a camping trip with my friend Quinton and we planned to meet in Gardnerville Nevada, about 20 minutes from Carson City. This was only my second camping trip, and the first one that required some hardcore backpacking.

The ride there was only suppose to take 4 hours 30 minutes but because of a wrong turn it ended up taking closer to 5. I only stopped for gas along the way and in hindsight the trip would have been much more enjoyable had I taken a lunch break halfway through for an hour or so. About 3 hours is the max I can be on a bike before it starts getting pretty uncomfortable.

There were some great roads on the way there, specifically highway 88 which had a ton of big sweepers. I also left at 4am so I wasn’t stuck behind too many trucks during the good roads and I ended up taking them pretty quick.

Here are some pictures I took on the way back. Click on the images to make them bigger.

Here I am posing for the camera. Notice the nice reflectors my jacket and bike has. Safety first kids!

Me Kneeling next to the bike. Please ignore the helmet hair.

A picture of the forest behind me.

A picture of my huge 50 lb pack which is only weighted to carry 40 lbs. This thing was smashing my nuts into the tank on the way up, but on the way back I managed to readjust it so it was more comfortable

A close up of the pack. Notice that I actually had to strap my tail bag on top of my backpack to give myself more room to pack things! I definitely took too much stuff.

One last picture of the bike.

My ZX6R held up pretty well considering the huge amount of weight on the back. Definitely a cool experience, but next time I’m not going to take as much crap!

So…your helmet ATE your hair? You seem to be missing some on the sides.

whoa! with that much gear, it’s like you’re riding 2up…

But, seriously, glad ya had a good, safe trip. Looks like you had a blast aside from the nut-squishing… :-D

Is that a national/state park where you took the pics at or just some random rest area?

I think your load was outside of the load triangle.

It was just some place where you could pull over. I saw it on the way up but I was going too quick to stop so I hit it on the way back. The cool thing was since I was chilling there a truck pulled over to make sure I was OK. He must have been a fellow rider or something.

Suprised you weren’t riding in a constant wheelie with that load on the back. LOL Nice pics…ummm nice hair, I think. Your bike is hot!
