AndrewParticipant
The best thing you can do right now is to sit on as many bikes as possible. Just see what feels comfortable for height, leg room, foot position and weight. Your probably looking at a cruiser or a tall dual purpose or standard though.
AndrewParticipantI made it in today with a temp of 40 after caging it yesterday. A scarf around the neck helped with the wind under the helmet so the only problem was cold digits.
AndrewParticipantAgreed. I rode the Rebel at my first MSF class and switched to the Nighthawk after that. It was just uncomfortable and harder to ride IMO than the Nighthawk.
AndrewParticipantI put the garage door opener in my pocket and push the button while I am still on the bike. I just wait for it to close before I ride off. Hopefully the damage isn’t too bad.
AndrewParticipantMy Ninja feels fast to me and it was described recently by my mates wife as looking scary fast.
AndrewParticipantI’m in IL and the weather has started to turn cooler.
AndrewParticipantYes. One of the exercises you can do is to basically go in a straight line as slow as possible. It helps build your clutch, throttle, brake skills. It also allows you to practice balancing the bike at very slow speeds.
I have come into a light that is green but has traffic backed up so I do the “slow race” to wait for the traffic to get going again. I don’t want to put a foot down unless I have too.
AndrewParticipantToys don’t make you happy but if having them can give you something you looking for then go for it. Just don’t do it on credit. The shininess of new toys will always wear off.
AndrewParticipantGet the bike you want. If they are not buying it or riding it there opinion doesn’t count. Most of them probably haven’t ridden a Ninja anyway so they are regurgitating the same crap the salesmen do.
AndrewParticipantLook like fun.
AndrewParticipantI don’t know really. I might work down to 50. I should know here soon as the weather will change here in IL soon enough.
AndrewParticipantI have this one in red: http://www.newenough.com/protective_apparel/textile_jackets_and_pants/cortech_by_tour_master/gx_sport_series_2_textile_motorcycle_jacket.html
I like it so far but it got a little warm the one day I rode in 85 degree weather. I’m not sure it would be good at temps over 90.
AndrewParticipantThats some serious storage there man. Like the closed eyes on the photo.
AndrewParticipantYou need to ask those dealers the out the door prices on the new Ninjas. They tend to add on setup and freight charges that can vary depending on where you live. I bought a used Ninja but a new one was an extra $700 on top of MSRP for tax, tags, title, freight and setup. I do remember reading that in CA dealers were adding on a lot more than that due to the high demand. Thats helped to push me into a used bike. Now I have it I’m glad I did. I don’t feel as a anxious riding as I might with a brand new shiny bike.
AndrewParticipantI have been using the downshift every approx 2 seconds when I’m coming to a complete stop from a higher gear like 4th. I think I heard it here first. it comes in useful in traffic as I have clicked down to 2nd and been able to roll back on the throttle as the traffic has started moving again.
I have gotten used to having my left hand keep the clutch engaged for long periods at lights since I want to stay in 1st when in traffic. I want to be in gear and not have to find it if something happens behind me.
