You should probably be 2 fingering that front brake although the teachers at MSF will bitch at you for it later.

Looks like the Ducati has no front blinkers. Is that right or are they recessed?

The Ducati is a liter bike so it’s not a mid sized bike IMO. Take it slow and make sure your buddy has you practice the slow weaves and u-turns (etc) so you get very familiar with that clutch. If your not already doing it keep your wrist lower than your knuckles on your throttle hand. It limits the amount of throttle you can grab, whic is a good thing.

I second the call for pictures once you have the bike.

I’m only up to 277 on the Ninja but I’m about ready to try a commute day once the rain stops and my gear arrives.

One I noticed myself doing was not being smooth from a stop sign as I lost concentration. I thought I had it down but obviously not enough to do it when my mind starts to wander.

I can recommend http://www.ninja250.org for answering all sorts of Ninja specific questions. I printed out their page on things to practice in a parking lot. The friction zone will be where you will start unless you have riding experience.

i rode a Nighthawk in class and there is a huge difference between it’s brakes and the brakes on my Ninja.

31.5 inches isn’t all that low. Almost every cruiser is lower than that and there are a few sport bikes with lower seats also.

I was passed at high speed last weekend on a country road and is surprised the crap out of me. I was doing frequent checks to make sure the guy I was riding with was behind me. I saw him but not the Buick that overtook the both of us in one shot.

Pretty sure the distance in a car is 3 seconds that I was told should really be 3 in the defensive driving course I had to take here in IL.

Dude. Just mount a camera under the rear cowl and have a mini lcd mounted on your handle bars. That would be sweet.

The directly behind me is where I want to be able to see though. I want to know if someone is there.

I think they would be fine as a second bike. The main question is likely to be if your ready for the extra torque and HP after 1000 miles on the Nighthawk. Is there a chance you could test ride any of them to feel the weight and handling difference? I doubt your going to grab a bunch of throttle like a complete noob on an I4 would.
