ParticipantI think that definately its worth looking into, because 4500 miles never dropped is still basically brand new for all intents and purposes. Also, starting out on a 250 may not impress the squidly little bastards but riders who have their head screwed on right will admire you for it.

ParticipantBianca: I don’t know the area too well because I’m not originally from here. I’m a native Floridian. Would you like to help me in planning a route?

ParticipantAt your size I definately wouldn’t even consider something like the Eliminator 125. It’s not so much about your weight or the bike’s lack of power as it is your physical size. You will feel cramped up into a little ball on that thing. The same will probably apply to anything in the 250 range either. Best bet would be a Suzuki DL650 V-Strom, Kawasaki Versys (I would think), or a BMW F650/G650. 650cc is about the smallest bike you should be considering cause anything milder will also be physically smaller and leave you feeling cramped…

ParticipantThe 250R is an excellent bike for you. I can’t promise you won’t want to upgrade someday as many people do. But it’ll be a long time coming, and you’ll have a lot of fun on your 250R and I promise I won’t ride too fast for you
Contrary to popular belief I am not a reckless rider. The fastest I’ve taken my SV650 up to is ~95mph and that was once on the interstate when traffic was moving at about ~80-85.
I have a neighbor who owns a black 250R who hasn’t ridden it in weeks for some reason. She’s a girl who’s about 5’3″ tall who accidentally dropped it 3 days after she bought it while trying to pull it into her driveway (first bike, no MSF course) and she hasn’t ridden it since. It’s been gathering dust and rain in her driveway for the past 2 months now. And yes it is an ’08.

ParticipantIs that a Green Lantern T-shirt? And am I just as big of a nerd for being able to name it?

ParticipantCongratulations on passing! Now you need to post in the thread I started in the General category that nobody else has responded to yet so I don’t feel alone!
I’ve heard of some people paying as much as $6k out the door for a new ninja which is insane. I’d say that, brand new, you can probably expect to pay between $4k-$5k, but thats just a guess. If you can get a used one for under $4k, go for it! The dealer markup on them right now is HUGE!
And don’t worry I’ll wait up for you
I don’t want you to punch me in the throat while you say “Who’s your momma?”
At least, I don’t think so..

ParticipantI once tried a Boca Burger… After taking one bite I felt it should be more useful as a hockey puck than as some form of food.

ParticipantAnyway, MY WHOLE POINT IS this: Motorcycling is a hobby, something you do out of a passion for it. It’s not something like a car that you buy because you need it to go thru daily activities, you do it because you WANT to. And for a lot of people, the “bare minimum” which really is all you get out of a 250, isn’t enough to fuel that passion that brought them to motorcycling in the first place after a year or two of riding it. If it was, they wouldn’t make anything bigger than 250s and 600s wouldn’t be the best selling class of motorcycle worldwide.
