ParticipantAye I agree. Pleading a case with such ignorant doesnt help the cause nor the biker community as a whole.

ParticipantI read some of the responses. They claim they were not stunting…oh well.

ParticipantNice Elwood…
argh I am waiting on my tax return to get my V&H pipes for my Vstar. For now I just completed the 3-hole mod on the bike. I need to cut a video on the sound and post it on my youtube.

ParticipantI had to call 5 honda dealers in Houston to finally find one. As soon as I found one, I put a $200 deposit on the one they didnt have yet but was expecting it in a shipment. Two weeks later I got a call saying it arrived. Went over that saturday and picked her up.
The smaller CC bikes are very popular because they get swiped up by beginners, and they retain their resale value.
Like I said better start calling around your area to see whats in stock and what they expect to get in by the manufacturer.

ParticipantThere is definitely a happy medium.
Am I scared of my bike when I get on? No.
Am I scared of getting side swiped by an 18 wheeler? Yes.
Am I scared of taking the L-shape turn? No.
Am I scared of taking that same turn at 60MPH? Yes.It less of being fearful and more of having the healthy fear that will keep you sharp.
And you are right, complete fear of something will be no good to you — its understanding situational fear and how it can help and keep you safe.

ParticipantHonda Rebels are difficult to get these days since Honda will not be manufacturing bikes in the US in the near future, and will only import them.
I heard the wait list on the Rebels can be long, so if I were you start calling your dealerships and ask what is in stock, how long wait lists are, and if you can put a deposit on a bike once you complete the MSF.

ParticipantI had the Rebel 250 as my first bike and loved it. The 250 really taught me how to ride. Its all what your preference is. The sports bike @ 250 will typically have more “getup and go” than the 250 cruisers.
The Ninja 250 has had great rider reviews and is very beginner friendly.
The Rebel, GZ, and Star 250 are all great bikes as well. All three will hit 80MPH which is sufficient for beginners and good enough for the freeway.
I believe the Ninja 250 will hit closer to 90MPH.
All 250s will offer you better manueverability and are more forgiving when making a mistake.
It will be a difficult choice for the first bike, but there are other 250s out there as well.

ParticipantThere ya go again…GOSH!!! LOL

ParticipantSo if fear is natural why would you want to hypnotize yourself not to fear it? Myself, I’d rather experience fear and overcome it. Maybe its the military coming out of me.

ParticipantYup im an a$$

ParticipantHey I actually own that jacket…and I love it.
It is a great jacket overall. Liner is a bit thin but then again its a leather jacket.I rate it 9/10.

ParticipantWhen getting insurance:
1. Full comprehensive is mandatory on motorcycles you take a loan on due to bank regulations.
2. Only if you own the title can you opt for something lower than comprehensive.
3. Getting medical is a good idea. Who will pay your hospital bills in case you get in a serious accident (God forbid)?
Sangria7
ParticipantNot to be an a$$ but seems the same questions get posted over and over
Seriously there are tons of posts on this forum with your same questions. Just browse through the General section of the forums and the “veterans” will give pretty much the same advice. There are several articles out there as well on choosing a bike.
As far as the MSF. It is probably the single most important decision you will ever make if you are going to be a motorcycle rider. It is the basis for everything you do concerning a bike, to include how to choose when buying one.
