Glad to hear of your interest in motorcycle riding. I do want to say that choosing a first bike with a dry weight of 563 lbs and a wet weight of 583 lbs and having 0 motorcycle riding experience might not be the best choice. HD bikes aren’t really known for maneuverabilty in the first place and the weight won’t help you with that either. FWIW, being a good driver does not automagically make you a good rider. Nor does knowing how to drive a stick shift automobile. And those certainly don’t automagically make it that you can handle a bike like that as a first time rider. With all the great people and pets you care about and who care and depend on you, please consider another first bike. Welcome to the forums. (-:

I live in sunnyvale, so if you didn’t want to meet up in mountain view and just meet up at sbux, then i’d just go from sunnyvale.

Yup. I’ve got no issues with the freeway. I ride to campbell often enough to eat at the pruneyard. I told my buddy ggreer about this and he’s interested in riding as well. He started riding a few months before me, rides a ninja 250, and lives in campbell already. So that’d be like 5 people in the group right now not including mrvyas.

Jiriki, you live in mountain view right? If you want I can meet you somewhere in mountain view @ ~3pm and you can ride with me to campbell if you’re not comfortable riding the freeway alone.

hrm… the 250cc cruisers we used at the MSF weren’t too heavy. I saved one from dropping due to not having the kick stand completely out. But I also have no idea how shifting would affect your ankles after having 2 major surgeries either since I’ve never been under the knife for anything. I guess you kinda have to go with your gut feeling on the scooter/moto conundrum.
