Artemis
ParticipantHi All!
I am Artemis… currently looking into my first bike, and the world of motorcycles in general. I think my heart is set on an HD sportster 883, yes yes I know its not wussy enough for a first bike, but I am almost 30 and a good driver who can drive stick so I think I can handle it. If only HD made a 500 cc bike, I’d be all over it. I really love the dynas…… mostly because of the rubber mount for the engine. Is it possible to have the older model sportster engines remounted with the rubber? Or would that cost a bloody fortune and not be worth it?
I am 28 years old, soon to be 29, and am married with a great hubby and 2 beautiful children, a girl, 9, and a boy, 2. I have 4 cats and a saltwater reef tank… I also paint, and cook, and have my own business. So I stay pretty busy.
I am a total absolute novice to bikes, who is about to take her classes through the DMV, and am starting to look for that first bike. I am hunting craigs list and looking for something used and well kept…. the articles here have been really really helpful to me…. and I look forward to chatting with everyone in the forums.
Peace!
Artemis

ParticipantGlad to hear of your interest in motorcycle riding. I do want to say that choosing a first bike with a dry weight of 563 lbs and a wet weight of 583 lbs and having 0 motorcycle riding experience might not be the best choice. HD bikes aren’t really known for maneuverabilty in the first place and the weight won’t help you with that either. FWIW, being a good driver does not automagically make you a good rider. Nor does knowing how to drive a stick shift automobile. And those certainly don’t automagically make it that you can handle a bike like that as a first time rider. With all the great people and pets you care about and who care and depend on you, please consider another first bike. Welcome to the forums. (-:
