Participantseriously, it’s the best option.
1. I doubt your dad would charge you interest. Nor the hidden fees and charges you’d find in a lot of loans.
2. I bet your dad would really rather see you get good grades than the money. although getting good grades and paying a bit of it back every month or so goes a long way in demonstrating your maturity and committment.
3. I’m sure your dad would want to get involved with his “investment” and would probably go with you to make sure you’re not getting hosed on any deal.Good on you for at least getting most of the gear before the bike. Make sure you take the MSF as well. Unless anyone else chimes in, I’m still going to say work something out with your dad/family. Or you could marry a rich guy really quick.

Participantyou probably could get a parent to cosign, but parents that’ll take responsibility for possibly 5k total loan are few and far between… at least no one’s parents that i know would do it and my parents wouldn’t do it. but for grades and a way low repay payment, my parents would do that… not for a motorcycle, but for something else for sure… hahaha…

Participantyah know i was only 1/2 kidding about that, but getting into racing and trackdays, I know a few instructors/racers that ride 250s that are smoking farking hot and hard to pass and will pass a bigger bike like nothing. the 250 will be a perfect first track bike for learning how to get blazing fast corner entry speed.

Participantstay away from loans. at your age and possible lack of credit history, you’re gonna get hosed. if i was in your shoes, and saving money’s too hard (it is hard to save money in college, costs are every where), make a deal with your dad since he rides and can understand the desire. have him help you buy the bike, you pay him back every month and get kick ass grades.
oh yeh, and welcome to the forums!

Participantoh man… it’s gonna be so embarrassing to you when she starts passing you in the corners at the track…
Congrats to her new bike.

ParticipantSV650SF. More popular than the 650R with a lot of parts and aftermarket support. 500 bucks more and you can get one with ABS. Rock solid, no issues. And with them v-twins, you get a nice even power delivery that makes it hard to goose the throttle for a 12 o’clock or for spinning out the rear (which actually can be done, but it’s hard… don’t ask me how i know…). I’m not a big fan of cruisers, not my kind of riding, and a sports/sports-tourer bike will be a more capable ride if she decides to follow you to the track.

ParticipantA really good, enjoyable, and funny vid. For some reason, the wheel cam angle made me think of Wall-E…

Participantgood call.

ParticipantAh… understood… well the good news is that these tracks aren’t going anywhere, so there’s always a chance to ride ’em.

Participantfor sure, the best race for motogp this year was the catalunya race. the end of that race was soooo farking awesome.

ParticipantWell… there’s nothing from stopping a complete noob from registering. They’re just a road block you need to get around. Usually at the rider’s meeting someone will ask who the complete track noobs are and hopefully someone will give a tow for a couple of laps. That’s what i did for 3 complete track noobs that day. And if the turnout is light like it was that day chances are you won’t see ’em at all… hahaha. You have no idea how difficult it was finding other riders to put in the vid. lolol…
Why would you still need to work up in .wa.us? just come on down and find something in cali. We got all the tracks and all the awesome roads. and lane splitting’s legal around here.

ParticipantYup. If rossi does win another it’ll be because he would have overcome huge battles with stoner. I myself don’t have a favorite racer. I just like to see fast bikes and passing and passing attempts. That 250cc race in sepang was one of the best races I’ve seen all year. aoyama and simoncelli put on a hella great show. If you haven’t seen that race, watch it. you won’t be disappointed.

ParticipantDo you guys not get open trackdays where you’re at? They’re definitely way better than group format trackdays.
Here’s a cuts vid of the day:
Not sure how long that vid will be there or if it’ll get the audio shut off since I r copeerite offendar… i got a vid uploaded to my FB account that’s accessible if we be FB buddies or your FB buddies…

Participanthaga and lorenzo have no one to blame but themselves. haga could’ve made securing the title easier by not qualifying so bad and then by not crashing out. shame really. him and spies were a notch above the other riders all season. haga could try to blame it on tire choice, but really he was way behind that first race and he pushed the bike too far. Lorenzo, i knew would blow up sometime in the last 3 races. I told my friend he was going to crash out in one of them. He obliged me in phillip island. And then almost made it even easier to lose by not getting to grid on time… Good thing rossi has a sense of fair play and decided to blow T1 on the start…
Lorenzo’s problem is that he’s cocky and overconfident in his abilities. There isn’t a bad risk in his book. We’ll see if next year he’s a little less cocky with better judgement. I don’t see him winning the title next year. I think next year will be either rossi or stoner, and i’m leaning towards stoner after his 3 races after his return.
