megaspazParticipantHello. Congrats on getting a bike both you and your wife can learn and have fun with. Good luck with the MSF… you should have a ton of fun in that class.
megaspazParticipantstate farm. cheapest for motorcycles I’ve found. but i’m in california and region might play a part in the price.

These guys used to rent track prepped bikes. I don’t see it on their site anymore so you might have to contact them and ask.
megaspazParticipantI’m sure you’d appreciate just going off to the track. The only day you really need to be there for is the form signing or whatever it is you do on the first day.

scroll down to aug. keigwin’s is doing 8/23 and 8/24 and zoom zoom is doing 8/28
bummer there ain’t no open trackdays going on at your time in the bay area… those are the shit…
megaspazParticipantTake code’s no body steering bike with a grain of salt. He is right that counter steering is what turns the bike and you get that by pushing/pulling on the bars but you can get that affect from a variety of ways besides consciously pushing or pulling the handlebars. Nobody rides the way he demonstrates that bike. The fact of the matter is that you can steer the bike with inside peg weighting and body position/steering. The way your body works is that it isn’t stiff and making adjustments with your body will affect your hands on the bars. At high speeds the last thing you want to do is make adjustments to your line or entry by consciously using only your hands. It’s pretty damn hard and takes a lot of concentration to make any adjustments using just your hands. Plus at high speeds just doing that will stiffen up your body which is what you don’t want. It’s easier to point your body into the turn and let your body dynamics handle the steering effect that happens when you make body position and peg weighting adjustments.
megaspazParticipantso yo mang… when you gonna get your googley ass down this way and hit the track with me? ^__^
megaspazParticipantdunno if that’s par for the course… it just made sense to get pro help tying all the bits and pieces I’ve picked up along the way. A lot of people I know, not necessarily racers, use the same coach I do for on track instruction. A lot of the track providers’ own instructors use this guy as well. hahaha!
megaspazParticipanti’ve ridden both a stock sv650 and a stock ninja ex500. An ex-coworker bought an ex500 and I rode it home for him. Stock for stock, the ninja ex500 rode like a pile of turd.
May 5, 2010 at 5:32 am in reply to: New Female Rider….any Suggestions, Experiences or Words of Advice? #26187megaspazParticipantcrashing sucks. it plays head games afterwards even with experienced riders. The first best thing you can do after a crash is to try and analyze what exactly happened. What you did, what you were looking at, etc. When you find the real reason why you crashed, it helps mentally getting back in the saddle. The crashes where you don’t know what the hell happened are the ones that completely fuck with your psyche.
megaspazParticipant+1 on the blue loctite.
May 5, 2010 at 5:20 am in reply to: How soon after getting your first bike did you go out on the freeway? #26185megaspazParticipant3 days after getting my first bike, I went to work on highway 101… I got my first bike a week after getting my MSF completion cert and M1 license… >.<
megaspazParticipantnice looking ride. Check for any motorcycle forums catering to your area and look for a mentor that can help/advise you on riding. Taking a bike out of the parking lot is no joke, but neither is staying in the parking lot your first couple of months riding your bike after the MSF. Do it to hone your skills and get used to your bike. Anyhoo, welcome to the awesome world of motorcycle riding.
