How to Get Your Child to Wear His Motorcycle Helmet All Times

    Tire Repair

If the tire isn’t too badly damaged you may be able to fix it. If it went flat gradually, it’s probably a puncture that can be patched. How you patch a tire depends on whether it’s tube-type or tubeless. Many current bikes have tubeless tires that can be plugged from the outside. A few machines have spoked wheels that require the use of innertubes. A “blowout” on a tube-type tire is usually a tear in the innertube rather than a tire failure, which means you need to replace the tube.

The quickie approach just to get you to help is to squirt some sticky “inflato-goo” such as ThreeBond Seal ‘N’ Air inside the tube or tire through the inflation valve. The goo seals the leak and the propellant gradually inflates the tire to a modest pressure. The inflato-goo should be considered an emergency solution, since it makes any future repairs problematic. However, I have resorted to the puffo stuff after running out of other options. (Test bike, Sunday afternoon, bike shops closed, no plug kit on board, no centerstand, ferry to catch—you know the situation).

Now, if you can actually patch a tire, the general rule of thumb is patch it if the nail is in the center of the tire, replace the tire if you get a nail on the sides.

    This thread’s full of baffle…

The things you’re reading in the owner’s manual seems to be taken out of context. Going into 6th gear for 35mph? um wat???

Yes you can get rear chatter from downshifting, but only if you don’t match the engine speed with wheel speed. 2 ways to do it safely without getting that chatter. 1. blip the throttle 2. let the clutch out slooooowww.

And what do you mean by logically you’d think upshifting would give you a boost?

    baffling…

You could take a look at the gladius. It is a monster clone, not my cup of tea, but…

Should be upright sitting position and they lowered the seat height to the gen 1 SV seat height.

Anyhoo, this year they only offer blue/white and black. The official gladius site suzuki put up shows 4 colors though: blue/white, red/white, black, and green/black.

hrm… dunno why you feel racer poser on the monster… it’s a nice cruising bike… nothing sporty really about it. if you really like the bonnie, you could always have it repainted elsewhere… or just deal with blue… ;-)

Check the dmv website @ http://www.dmv.org/motorcycle.php
It should list out all the legal requirments needed to register your vehicle.

    1 billion miles…

4 thousand miles in 2 years ain’t a whole lot of miles at all. Get service history to be sure and bring someone who knows something about motorcycles to look it over… you could even pay for taking the bike into a shop to get checked out. If all good, seems like a decent price to me.

Dude, there’s no way a ninja 250 should cost you that much in insurance. Shop around… My 848 only costs me 600/year, full coverage 100/300/100, 500 deductible, comp and collision, etc. My SV650S, 500/year… Whoever you’re doing insurance with is taking you to the cleaners. Call state farmm.
