KickprivateParticipant
You may have had experience with riding, but how long ago. You say you want to go at it again. Do it properly and take the MSF course. If and when you buy your new bike you are going to need gear. Most shops give a pretty good discount for people who present them with a MSF course pass.
Do it right or don’t do it all. Things get wild on the road and that is not the place to start learning.

KickKickprivateParticipantThe pleasure is all mine. If you want to destroy the workings of your bike with WD40 then by all means, who am I to interfere…
As far as cleaning your wheels. If you really want to go through all the work of cleaning the wheels, by all means go for it. But before you know it they are going to be filthy again. If you have some gunk build up, after you sud up your bike hit the wheels right quick and it will take care of a lot of the crap.
WD40 does indeed remove the grease from the inner-workings of your chain. Avoid it.
The grunge brush is a chain cleaning brush btw!

KickKickprivateParticipantFuck WD40.
Get a grunge brush and go to work.

KickKickprivateParticipantVery kool Matt!
It’s always very kool to see how friends and family bond while taking the MSF course. I have seen it a few times and it’s always been a treat!

KickKickprivateParticipantI hope your not trying to pass this off as saying “if you didn’t notice it you prolly should practice more” because that would suck!

And a message to everyone:
If you think you will outgrow a 500CC bike in a year, you need to think again and just to be sure, you may want to think again!
I ride a EX500 and have just barely started putting my feet in the puddle that is known as sport riding. If I thought I would outgrow this bike in the next 2 years I would sell it right now. Well guess what? I still have it and its not up on craigslist. Pick your bike for your skills, not your bike for your budget.

KickKickprivateParticipantBoth me and a riding buddy ride ex500’s which the pegs are a bit low. Its still very good lean though.
My buddy popped his peg dragging cherry that weekend. He told me what I already knew. It scared the shit out of him just like it did me my first time! lol
