ParticipantI went to Parkway Elem. in Deep Gap, Watauga High and Ashe High. A little too hot for me, but I miss my friends and the falls! Welcome, I would love to ride the Parkway on a nice crisp spring morning…..

ParticipantFor some reason, I’m a yellow jacket and whatever else kind of bee is around here with a stinger magnet. They break on my jacket, and land in front of my speedometer…..I just hope one doesn’t hit my neck…….

ParticipantOkay, I read every comment on that page in addition to the article. There are some heartless jerks out there. Some of those people needed a square punch in the face to wake them up. I agree w/ Elwood that speed and misjudgment are probably the major contributors.
Remember ATGATT! No exceptions! Keep your situational awareness no matter what. I don’t believe that most “accidents” are accidents. An accident is a tree falling on the road right in front of you/on top of you. Wrecks are avoidable. Please ride safe. I see some really dumb riders and cage drivers out there. The tragedy is when they take innocent lives with them. Be responsible and remember that everyone on the road is a person, and they have people that care about them. I wish they would do the same, but the way of the world sucks.RIP everyone who has lost their lives in tragic wrecks.

ParticipantThe only problem being that there’s only one bike shop here, and I can’t get to Seattle for a few weeks due to transportation problems (bridge closure). The store here I swear only has stuff for super huge people. I gave my husband my pants b/c he’s got stubs below the hips. I don’t know if I’m curvy, but men’s stuff normally fits me like crap. Of course my women’s jacket leaves room for like humgo boobs, and I couldn’t go smaller because my torso and arm length. It fits great, I just look really funny if I sit down with it on when not on the bike. I’m going to try and see what they have at my local store maybe tomorrow, they said they were getting a new brand in, but didn’t tell me what it was. Anyways, thanks. I’ll see what else I can find.

ParticipantIt’s because the written test is “hard”. When I moved there, I still had to take the written even though I had a valid license from another state.
That test was a joke though.

ParticipantI’m too cheap to pay that kind of $ for something that would be broken within a matter of days in my house. I kid you not. 3 boys, a 65 lb. dog, and a kitten, not to mention my husband………..and we live on a gravel road, and only have about 15 ft of a paved ramp to the door…….haha! Super cool toy if you have the spare cash and no kids or dogs that would eat it…..or cats that would steal it…………

ParticipantI don’t even know what ATGATT means……….sounds like something my two year old would say to my 1 year old….haha. Sometimes I feel like my mom, you know totally clueless to the new “hip” slang, and whatever else. totally off topic though.
I would like to see a bread crumb trail so that you don’t have to try and figure out what discussion you were in after you post, without having to always hit back. Just click a link to which part you want to go to and ta-da! You’re there! The search for sure. I think I remember it being there when I was a lurker. I don’t care too much about pictures and all that jazz, but that’s just me. I know lots of people love to show their bike. Half the people on here have my bike, so what’s the point? lol. I like the idea of breaking up the general forum into 3 sections.

ParticipantI am an AK resident living in WA state right now, and they don’t know that I have a permit from AK down here. I went to today and registered my bike. It says on my registration that it is illegal to ride a bike without an endorsement, and if you don’t have one, to contact the DMV. I thought that was kind of funny. Guess they have to cover their butts.
I got an insurance quote and answered the questions for after I take my test this week. I live on a private road, and won’t leave it until I get my insurance. You can get insurance w/ a permit in WA and AK. Otherwise, how would you ever get to learn? What would be the point of a permit? JMO.gsmurfette
ParticipantI’m taking the MSF class this weekend in Port Angeles, and now I know what I need to work on. I don’t have a parking lot anywhere near me, which sucks. I also wish that they allowed you to take you own bike to the beginner course. I’m a MSF book that I have, it says something to the effect of that your bike is like your toothbrush, and you should treat it like that. Now I have to go take a class on a bike that I don’t even know what it is….I know everyone has to do it, but still, I think that if you have a bike, and have a way to transport it, and the proper documentation, that you should be allowed to bring your own bike. It’s my bike, if I drop it, I drop it. I have once already. A few more scratches won’t hurt. lol. I haven’t been going fast enough when I’ve been practicing my stuff……..well, good night all!

ParticipantI’ll be sure to tell him! Read about it in a few other forums, but it hadn’t clicked in my brain…..

ParticipantI’m about 5’5″ and 120 lbs. My husband is 5’3″, and I have a 2009 Ninja 250r. I love it! It’s a great learning bike, and I think it still has enough balls to be fun. I’ve stalled out a few (to say the least) times and it doesn’t throw me, and I don’t lose control. I dropped it before I learned how to do slow turns, and I was able to pick it up myself.
My husband has no problem reaching the ground, and his inseam is 30 inches. The seat is 30.5 in off the ground. I’ve only had it for about a month, but I love it. The handlebars aren’t too low, and I think it’s comfortable ride. It gets about 63 mpg. It’s plenty fast unless you want to go retarded fast….all I wanted was something that would go highway speeds and had enough power to pass if needed. I think that it’s perfect for my needs.
I’ve only gotten it up to 55 so far, waiting on my new pants because my old ones didn’t fit right. I don’t know about bike lowering, hubby is going to buy a new bike, and he’ll probably have to have it lowered. I would go to a dealer and sit on a few and see what feels good. Hope this helps! -
