Thanks for the replys…
yeah, having surgery SUCKS, trust me. The first surgery in 06 was to clean out the upper ankle joint (where the shin meets the ankle) from extra bone growth (old sport injuries coming back to haunt me)… the 2nd surgery, january of this year, was to stitch back together a tendon and a bone graph to keep that tendon in place, so motion and range of motion is kind of difficult to say the least. PLUS, My career as a foot and ankle model has ended quite abruptly!! 8^ ) But it is definitely not a lot of fun, I am on the road to recovery!! Just finished the physical therapy bit and now I’m doing the self motivation stuff… but not too motivated to do it!
The Burgman review was hilarious and I’m sure that I would be acting a fool waving at other motorcyclists as well, if I was to pick up a scooter. Just to draw out the attention some more, and get a good laugh at myself which I do often!! If I was to get a scooter, I do not believe I would be getting on the highways much at all. I would keep it in the city and then tow it to the beach for a good run around town…
I have been doing a lot of research on the SV650 and I love the sport bike look with the standard approach. I am going to be reaching out to a lot of my friends around the area with bikes (Cruisers and Sport) to test drive so that I can get a feel for what is going on with the ankle. I don’t think that strength is too much of a concern, but the constant up and down motion with the toe may get tiresome after a while which is what I’m concerned about. The boot idea is great and I will definitely look into those boots for the support thing in case weight becomes an issue…
I did see a version of the MP3 at a dealership which looked like it would be a blast to drive around in. I would definitely be more than willing to own one of those… but the price tag I saw made me think otherwise!!
datattooedParticipant…on your new ride!! It is looking great!
datattooedParticipantOk, that is some serious shtuff right there…
DAMN
datattooedParticipant…. stupid question! HA 8^ )
datattooedParticipantThe V_A
datattooedParticipantI got a pretty stupid question… I am seeing over pants and everything else, but what would be a good pair of pants to wear over dress pants? If I was to ride my bike into work, I have to wear a suit… therefore, would need to have a pair of pants that went over dress pants and wasn’t too damn hot.
Any suggestions?
I’m loving the pics of the red SV650. Congrats on a gorgeous bike!!
datattooedParticipantyeah, I checked into the SV650, but I still just need to go and sit on all of the ones mentioned… I think that I will definitely have to do more hands on research more so than on the trusty MAC.
I really like the standard versions… with the sport bike look but more upright position. But the whole “Bang for ya buck” is pulling me closer to the Kawi.
I am doing all of this research, but failed to mention that I have yet to sign up for the MSF course. Still waiting for my ankle to heal!!
GOOD TIMES!
datattooedParticipantHey ShannonG,
Thanks for the post and it is really funny that you went through the same thing that I am going through now. I’m still doing my research on as many bikes as possible, because I want to make sure that I fit on the bike. I failed to mention in the beginning of this post that I’m 6’0 and running about 225 right now. So, it seems like a larger bike would be the better decision for me because of my size. But after reading so many posts of people the same size and sometimes larger (not many)… and how they are getting the bikes that I’m having a harder decision on.
I think that I am going to have to take my sweet time and sit on as many bikes as possible… but the Kawi 250R is 1 sweet looking bike. I was looking at the Enduro Series of BMW… as well as the smaller version of the cruising bikes as well… If only I was rich!! HA
datattooedParticipantYou know, I went to the Donald Burger website when I first read your response, but completely forgot to respond. Thank you for recommending it because it is very informative and I enjoyed reading about his earlier experiences…
Thanks again!
datattooedParticipantThat is the exact bike I have been looking at for quite some time. I’m planning on taking the MSF course first before getting the kawi so that I can enjoy the ride home from the dealer.
Beautiful bike!!
April 30, 2008 at 11:02 pm in reply to: Using (Bad) Math to figure out if “I am too big for a 250cc” #5922datattooedParticipantThat is definitely a different way of looking at it. I have to admit, I was one of those people saying the exact same thing mentioned above, is the 250 enough, or should I go for something larger!!
datattooedParticipantThank you for the reply,
The FZ6 cost about the same as 2 250R’s at asking price. He handed me his card as I was walking out of the dealership, I think that he could tell I wasn’t going to come back… My father in law was with me and he just laughed at the comparison.
I am still doing the research and working it over with my wife to go attend the MSF course. I am definitely looking forward to doing this, but getting an open slot in that course is difficult up in northern VA.
