    Cover bike so it won’t be visible, use large chain around bike and some metal structure that can not be moved… like a metal fence.. make sure the chain is visible under the bike cover.

    Trailers are more dangerous than motorcycles IMO.
    I prefer small pickup trucks and nice secure ramps to load moto into the bed.

    I’ve had two get-off on motos, one time when the front tire went flat on my KTM 640 while traveling on I-95 highway going at 65+mpg… tankslaper style front end when I try to slow down.. until the tire completely ran out of air, centripetal force can not sustain the shape of the front tire alone.. I had to slow down or ride a wheelie all the way home. I fought witht he front end until it slowed down to approx. 35 mph, laid the bike sideways and slid away from the bike on my butt.. The minivan traveling next to me stopped to check me out, driver was impressed how long I kept the bike upright, he thought I could have ridden the bike on a wheelie until I figure something out.

    Second crash was on my 2002 BMW R1150RS, I had stayed up until 4AM fighting with an ex-girl, following morning I was on a spirited moto ride. Overnight it was very windy and lots of branches and derbis litter the roads. At one point there was a good size log that came down right in the middle of a blind lefthander curve. Sleep deprived and torget fixation got the better of me. Front wheel runs over the lgo while leaned over, bike lowsides and I let go of the bike and slid on my butt again.. bike continued on but manage to do a somersault in the air, lands on the grassy downward slope and come to rest in a ditch. Those BMWs take a beating and keeps on ticking.. fixed it up 4 months later and rode it for another 24,000 mi. before selling it.

    When other riders start to ask you why you leave your helmet on the bike and you asnwer: they are covered with dead bugs and stinky sweat, why would anyone steal it.

    When you carry a block of wood to place under your sidestand when you park.

    When you park your bike closest to moving traffic in a parking spot so it won’t be obscured my parked vehicles next to you.

    When you know to face your bike uphill before you have to make a K-turn, to let gravity assist in reversing your bike.

    When you act as reflex to look for ways to avoid impact rather than grabbing a handful of brakes.

    I just rolled 360 mi. this past weekend with the windshield mounted.. it works wonders blocking off chilly wind from my chest and still allow “clean” air above my neck. As I duck down and rest my helmet on top of my tankbag, the windshield block all if not most of the wind. Rock solid at speed up to 85 mph according to GPS on sustained highway cruising.

    I bought this windshield from eBay for $20 plus $25 shipping, I don’t know of the brand but it like most universal windscreen, you mount it however you can. Took me 30-45 minutes to try a couple of different mounting methods to finalize a location for the brackets and placement of the screen.

    I watched it, doesn’t make me want to crash any less.. no blood, no ambulance, no display of consequences when you ride out of your capability..
    Showed a bunch of cool stuff that I want to purchase.. but doesn’t seem to promote thoughts that want me to be safer.

    It was over 3 months ago since I removed the lower silver pieces… as far as I can remember, they were pretty straight forward.

    The mounting bolts near the back of the seat are the pressed-in type fasteners, center part of the bolt pops up from underneath, use a flat screw driver to push from under while push downward at the outter part at the top of the bolt, then you can remove the bolts from its location.

    No performance change that I could tell, but I like the idea of loosing 8 lb. of dead weight off the bike.. spending $3-400 for aftermarket slip-on to add more weight to the bike is not something I like to do. If anything, I will go to my local exhaust place and get a tip fabricated to make the opening aim downward so rain water do not fall into the cat… that or just drill a drain hole in the cat.

    I used to have an 2002 SV650S, I sold it because the offered price was more than right. In comparison, the Gladius has smoother engine operation, less vibration throughout the rev range, slightly more hp and torque, wider handlebar makes the bike feel very nimble, awsome tires that are confidence inspiring. I’ve put about 3600 mi. on the Gladius since late May, it’s a great beginner moto IMO, and beginner riders are not liklely to grow out of the Gladius as their riding skill improve.
    Some very cheap or no cost way to loose weight on the Gladius make the weight difference between SV dismissable.

    I don’t worry so much about looks when it comes to functional items like windshield, I figure if it is cold enough to have a windshield on moto, it better serve its purpose well. The one I have does a great job blocking cold air off my chest and arms, if I duck down with my helmet, it quiets down drastically so I can hear the nice engine and exhaust notes.

    I have put about 3600 miles on my Gladius since late May, removed the silver plastic panels and tail pipe the fist day, as soon as I got the bike back to my house, tailpipe is about 8 lb. of dead weight on the bike, it off the bike makes it sound like a Ducati on decceleration.

    I also changed out the handlebar to black annodized alloy bar and black plastic units that weighs 1/3 of OEM ones, removed barend weights.. altogether save another 4-5 lb. of the highest part of the bike.
    Upgraded headlights to HID units, 55w bi-xenon.

    Now that it’s getting colder, I’ve added a windscreen to block air off my chest and arms:

    IMO, width of the windshield is more important than height.

    I like to keep my helmet in “clear air” when riding, windscreen tend to distort the vision.

    If I have good shoulders and arms coverage from the windscreen, that usually can ride as cold as 20 degree F.

    I have had good experience with removing melted items or decals with hairdryer.
